During his senior season, he was again named first team all conference and third team all American. He has the right size and build, as well as speed (4.51 40 yd) Dwayne Haskins Jersey White , to be a very effective CB at the pro level, particularly if he can find a way to increase his aggressiveness with receivers. Brown crushed the combine, and has seen his stock rise precipitously over the course of the last month or so, with whispers that he could go within the top 100 picks.StrengthsFastGreat athletic abilityGood hands, former WRStrong instinctsClosing skillsGood sizeWeaknessesNeeds more fireShort armsLack of assertivenessNot great in run supportLet’s see his workHow He Would ready have one wide receiver successfully turned cornerback on the team - Quinton Dunbar.Jordan Brown could be a soft-handed bookend to Dunbar who could eventually be groomed to replace the overpriced and underwhelming Josh Norman in the Redskins’ secondary.Initial reports indicate that Brown has the capability to start as a slotnickel corner, with a strength in zone coverage. The fly in that ointment is that with his stellar combine performance, most NFL scouts are now awake to Brown’s “sleeper” status. Washington fans will have many opportunities to see the team’s players in action during training camp later this summer. The team will open up their practice facility to the public on 13 dates from July 25 to August 11. On nine of those days, the practice will run from 9:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and the team will reconvene on the field for walkthroughs in the afternoon that will also be open to the public. As a result, there will be 22 total practice sessions for fans to watch the players go through their paces. Attendance to all of the sessions is free. We’ve been keeping track of all the open practices around the league and Washington falls behind Dallas in the total number of days they’ll be open to the public. Their NFC East rivals in Philadelphia are on the other end of the spectrum with one open practice and the Raiders are the only team with no practices open to the public.

The Morning After: Raiders flat performance falls squarely on Jon Gruden’s shoulders It’s amazing how quickly good feelings from a win can go away. The positivity from last week’s win against the Cleveland Browns has already disappeared with this loss to the Los Angeles Chargers Antonio Brown Jersey White , quickly dissolving back into the negativity that had preceded the Raiders lone victory. It isn’t just that the Raiders lost, it’s that they played so badly in a huge game for them. This was a divisional rivalry that could have gotten the Raiders out of the AFC West cellar with a victory, and Oakland just completely whiffed on even making the game competitive. It wasn’t just a loss, it was an implosion. That is on Jon Gruden not having his team ready for this game, he needs to make sure the team is better prepared and motivated for such an important game.Once again though, a horrible decision by Derek Carr in the end zone directly affected the outcome of the game. It was with a minute left in the 3rd quarter, the score was 20-3 and the Raiders had 1st and goal at the 1 yard line when Carr threw another absolutely ridiculous interception. Let’s just repeat that for a second, it was 1st and goal from the 1!Not only was it an awful call to even throw the ball there instead of run Marshawn Lynch, but there was absolutely no reason to force a throw into traffic in the middle of the end zone anyway. It was just plain stupid and unforgivable of Carr, there was no chance he was going to complete that pass to Derek Carrier and he threw it directly to Melvin Ingram like Ingram was the intended target. How many times do we have to say this anyway, run Marshawn Lynch in that situation every single time. Lynch is the most violent runner of the past decade, you give him the first opportunity to score from the goal line. This shouldn’t have to even be said. Don’t be cute, don’t be creative, just hand the ball off to Beastmode and let him dominate the defense even if they know it’s coming. If he gets stopped then MAYBE try something else Bo Jackson Jersey White , but don’t throw the damn ball on 1st and goal from the 1 when you have Marshawn Lynch. If the Raiders score a touchdown there the game is 20-10 going into the 4th quarter and all of the momentum would have been on Oakland’s side. Who knows what happens after that? The game was fully in reach if Carr doesn’t throw the bonehead interception. It’s ok to throw the ball away in order to live to fight another day, but Carr consistently makes these horrible decisions instead. Then to make matters worse, once the offense got the ball back after the Chargers scored another touchdown they showed absolutely no urgency in trying to come back from the 26-3 deficit. The 9 play touchdown drive would have been beautiful if it had happened any time before the 4th quarter, but it was agony to watch the team walk to the line like they had all the time in the world. They weren’t likely to come back anyway, but that doesn’t mean you don’t still do everything you can in trying to make the improbable happen. There was just under 10 minutes left in the game for the Raiders to get 23 points, and they took 4:31 off the clock on the one slow moving drive. There was no fire, no rhythm, no anything of what you actually would want to see from your favorite team in that situation. The one bright spot to point out in the whole game was that Daryl Worley looked really good at times coming back from suspension. He had 8 tackles in the game and at least two of them were on third down plays where he came up with the stop when nobody else was going to be able to. There is a reason that he played 77% of the snaps despite only having 3 practices since preseason ended, and hopefully he continues to show that type of play going forward.A semi-bright spot was the play of Martavis Bryant who had 3 receptions for 91 yards, however that’s only simi-bright because of his extremely costly fumble in the 2nd quarter. The Raiders needed to respond to the Chargers touchdown that took the lead 10-3, but Bryant’s fumble led to another LA touchdown and the Raiders never were really in the game again after that. Still, it’s great to see him continuing to get comfortable in the Raiders offense and to put his impressive speed on display. He is showing what the Raiders saw in him to trade a 3rd rounder for him, he just needs to clean it up a little more and secure the ball much better than he did on that fumble. There is no excuse for such a lackluster offense in such a big game for the Raiders though, Jon Gruden absolutely has to do better than this. This clearly looks like a lost season already at 1-4 https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-derek-carr-jersey , but that doesn’t excuse having such a flat, uninspired offense like they showed against the Chargers. There is no excuse for the offense to play like they did yesterday, and that is on Jon Gruden to make sure the team isn’t flat like that. That’s the most frustrating part of the whole thing. Gruden is a master motivator (maybe) and instead of showing up for a big game like this the team just completely folded. Where is the fire that Chucky is supposed to have if it isn’t showing up in an AFC West rivalry game to get out of the cellar of the division? Losing is one thing, but losing with no heart is another and this was the latter.Next up is Seattle in London, a game that seemed a lot more winnable a week ago. Still, a win against the Seahawks before facing the Colts at home and the 49ers in Santa Clara could put them right back on track to getting this season respectable at least. Right now even hoping for a .500 season is hard to do, but a win against Seattle could reinvigorate the team and the fanbase.Sadly, it’s awfully hard to be optimistic going forward after flopping like they did against the Chargers in such a big opportunity for them. If the Raiders continue to play with as little heart as they showed yesterday then there’s a much better chance that Oakland would be battling for the top pick in the draft rather than being anywhere near 8-8 when the season ends. On day two of the NFL Draft, Tyler and I hopped on the Silver & Black Pridecast to discuss the Raiders first round. Since then a lot has happened. First of all, they picked six more players in rounds 2-7. Immediately after that, they began signing undrafted free agents. Soon after the draft was completed, Peter King released one of his long reads and there was a lot of Raiders in it because King was at the Raiders facility Derek Carr Jersey White , spending the day with the Raiders and getting what seemed to be a firsthand account of their draft strategy. Meanwhile the rest of us media schmucks were in the media room.King paints a picture of a draft room in which Gruden was a bundle of nerves, eager to get on the phone and trade up at every turn to get the guys he wants, fearing they won’t be on the board when the Raiders select. And Mayock being “the adult in the room”, calming the “Golden Retriever” that was Jon Gruden.in their press conference following the first round. But following day two, Mayock talked about having two players on his board when they reached their pick at 35 overall. This was the reason he felt comfortable trading down to 38 and then 40 before selecting Clemson cornerback Trayvon Mullen.Who was that other player besides Mullen? Well, we have our ideas. We discuss that, the King report, the rest of the Raiders draft picks and more in our S&B Pridecast draft wrap.If you’d like to listen to our day one wrap pod first, or just go back and listen to it afterward, you can hear that here:You can subscribe to the Silver & Black Pride podcast network at the below links:Apple podcastsGoogle podcastsGoogle playSpotifyStitcher

ENGLEWOOD Womens Phillip Lindsay Jersey , Colo. (AP)For the Denver Broncos, long-shot projects are so last year.Instead, long-term prospects are what dominants their 2018 draft class, players who spent four years in college and enter the NFL with degrees in hand.Picking higher than they’re accustomed to also allowed the Broncos to land players that initially seemed out of reach. They were thrilled when North Carolina State pass rusher Bradley Chubb, the draft’s top-ranked defender, fell to them at No. 5 , and again when SMU receiver Courtland Sutton was there at 40 .Starting with those two surprising selections, nine of Elway’s 10 picks spent four years in college. Almost all were captains and all bring a shot of maturity to a team that was besieged by a generational divide last year when several exasperated veterans charged the 2017 draft class with wanting playing time based not on merit but on draft status.Elway said Saturday he needed to inject a shot of maturity into a team that’s coming off a five-win season just two years after a Super Bowl parade.”One thing we learned last year when you’re 5-11 and you’re in a losing streak, you need that maturity and that leadership to get things turned around,” Elway said. ”So, these players have that ability.”That’s why we decided to go more in that direction.”Elway copied his cornerstone selection of Chubb on Days 2 and 3, beginning with Sutton, who took a medical redshirt his first year at SMU and graduated after his junior season.”I stayed another year and I worked on those things that some people saw as my weaknesses,” said Sutton, suggesting that decision did wonders for his maturity and his game.It wasn’t until the sixth round and their seventh pick – Arizona State guard/center Sam Jones – that the Broncos selected a player who left school before his eligibility expired.Jones declared for the draft after Sun Devils coach Todd Graham was fired. After Sutton, Elway’s next five picks – Oregon running back Royce Freeman, Boston College cornerback Isaac Yiadom, Iowa linebacker Josey Jewell, Penn State wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton and Wisconsin tight end Troy Fumagalli – all stayed through their senior seasons. So did Denver’s last two picks, Washington linebacker Keishawn Bierra and Arkansas running back David Williams, who transferred with his degree in hand after three seasons at South Carolina.Aside from Jones, the Broncos’ other nine draft picks have a combined 412 games of FBS experience. So, unlike last year’s class, which has yet to pay dividends , this group is expected to make more of an immediate impact as the Broncos try to leave behind two disappointing seasons and return to the playoff picture for the first time since winning Super Bowl 50.SNEAK PEAK: Fumagalli, Yiadom and Hamilton all caught the Broncos’ eye at the Senior Bowl, which was one bright spot from coach Vance Joseph’s dreadful debut season.”It was huge for us,” Joseph said. ”Coaching that game is a clear advantage going into the draft. We drafted three guys from Senior Bowl game. To have a chance to work with those guys for a week in meetings and on the practice field is huge. Taking three guys from that game proves it.”Not that they want to go back to Mobile, Alabama, for the annual all-star game again any time soon.”You don’t want to coach that for a long time,” Elway said. ”We had a great time at the Senior Bowl, but we are good not coaching it for a while.”KEEPING THE FAITH: The Broncos’ decision to bypass a deep class of quarterbacks shows how much faith Elway maintains in Paxton Lynch, whom he moved up to grab in the first round out of Memphis two years ago.Lynch has only started four games in two years John Elway Jersey White , but Elway keeps insisting he still believes in the raw quarterback even after signing Case Keenum in free agency and declaring him the starter in 2018.”We are not kicking him to the curb,” Elway said of Lynch. ”Paxton is going to compete with Chad (Kelly) for that backup spot.”That marked the first time Elway has thrown Kelly into the mix publicly in the year since he drafted him out of Mississippi with the final pick in 2017.HOMETOWN HERO: Among the Broncos’ undrafted signees is Colorado running back Phillip Lindsay, a Denver native who will compete in the backfield with Devontae Booker and De’Angelo Henderson to back up Freeman.—HT: Matchups to watch tomorrow vs Bears Every game has its interesting matchups. The preseason is especially interesting with evaluation of so many players happening and the process of cycling through the layers of the depth chart through the course of the game. Let’s take a look at some players with something to prove tomorrow when the Broncos take the field to face the Chicago Bears.Broncos Secondary vs Bears Passing OffenseThis is a little broad, but it’d get a bit repetitive to write about Mitch Trubisky vs the Broncos’ secondary, then Allen Robinson vs the Broncos’ secondary, and then Trey Burton vs the... you get the idea. For the first time in quite a while, there appears to be some cause for concern about Denver’s defensive backfield. Can Bradley Roby step up into Aqib Talib’s role? Can Tramaine Brock and Isaac Yiadom fill the hole that leaves at CB3? Have the Broncos finally addressed the longstanding weakness vs tight ends & running backs in the passing game? We won’t get answers to those questions tomorrrow, not full ones. But we’ll get some evidence to weigh, and it’s certainly something to watch. That said, there’s a caveat here. Chris Harris Jr & Su’a Cravens both missed significant practice time this week. If Harris in particular doesn’t play, then we’re really just evaluating the team’s depth in this game, not the starting unit.Photo by Dustin Bradford/Getty ImagesCase Keenum vs the BearsWe saw so little of Keenum vs the Vikings, so it’ll be good to see him hopefully throw more than just a literal handful of passes this weekend. Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, & Courtland Sutton vs the Bears’ cornerbacks, as individual matchups, should be very one-sided in favor of the Broncos. Can Keenum take advantage of that? Will he lead sustained drives and make good decisions with the football? After the last two seasons, you can’t really blame any Broncos fan who wants a bit more assurance of that.Jeff Heuerman & Jake Butt vs Bears Linebackers/SecondaryOwen Daniels retired after the 2015 season and apparently took the concept of effective Broncos tight ends with him. We’ve had a strong week of practice from a healthy Jeff Heuerman, with the talented Jake Butt in the mix as well.Neither saw a target last weekend and that needs to change vs the Bears. The tight end position needs to start producing to match the promise we’re seeing at WR and RB.Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY SportsBradley Chubb & Jeff Holland vs Bears Offensive LineMiller & company should be on your to-watch list every week this season, because they should absolutely tear it up. It’ll be nice if Miller plays vs the Bears, though it’s understandable if the team holds him out. He’s got nothing to prove this preseason. But keep an eye out for another hopefully strong performance from rookies Bradley Chubb & Jeff Holland.Chad Kelly vs the Bears’ 2sChad Kelly played with enough skill & fire vs the Vikings to earn himself a promotion. How quickly can he build a rapport with his new cast of 2nd string receivers? And can he sustain the encouraging play from last week now that the competition has been raised a level?Last week, Kelly took Paxton Lynch’s job. Tomorrow marks the official opening of his two to three game window to defend his new position from a potential veteran acquisition.Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY SportsPaxton Lynch vs the Bears’ 3sLast week vs the Vikings, Paxton Lynch played with... well, with his usual manner. Now he’s fallen to the bottom of the depth chart and his future with the Broncos is very much in doubt. It’s time for him to start putting up some good tape and prove that he can at least outclass a bunch of guys who mostly won’t even make it to a practice squad. That’d be best for him and his career, and also for the Broncos’ ability to do the best thing they can for his career by trading him away.If he doesn’t dominate at this lowest level of NFL competition, though? Missed tackles. Missed assignments. Missed communication. All are plausible explanations for what's gone wrong with the Washington Redskins' defense lately.A unit that was a big reason for the team's strong start to the season is also now a big reason for the Redskins' rapid descent to 6-6 and a three-game losing streak heading into Sunday's matchup against the visiting New York Giants."We've just got to get off the field Dwayne Haskins Jersey ," Redskins cornerback Josh Norman said. "Got to find a way to get off the field."Only 12 of the league's 32 teams have given up more yards per game than the 367.4 the Redskins are allowing this season. That's bad enough as it is.But narrow the scope to the past five outings, and Washington's average balloons to more than 420 yards. Over the past three games, Washington's opponents have averaged 27.3 points."Defensively, we have to play better. We have to play better. These 430-yard games are too much for the defensive personnel that we do have. We have no excuses there," coach Jay Gruden said. "So the challenge will be, 'Hey, if we have to win 7-6, let's do it.'"To Norman's point, the third-down conversion numbers are the most staggering of all.For the season, the Redskins are letting foes get the first down 44 percent of the time; only three clubs are worse. Over just the most recent five games, it gets worse, rising to a 54 percent success rate on third downs. It's probably not a coincidence that Washington is 1-4 in those games, dropping from first place to third in the NFC East. And now comes the challenge of dealing with the Giants and their two offensive stars: rookie running back Saquon Barkley, third in the NFL in rushing yards, and wideout Odell Beckham Jr., who threw one TD pass and caught another last week."We'll work on things that maybe have hurt us in the past and we've got to work on those and get better at them," Redskins defensive coordinator Greg Manusky said, "and just got to make sure we make tackles in the open field."Unlike all of the injury issues on offense 鈥?Mark Sanchez is Washington's third starting QB in less than a month Wes Martin Jersey , and the team is on to its third pair of starting guards 鈥?the defense has been relatively healthy.Plus, it was supposed to be getting help when the Redskins acquired Green Bay Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix at the trade deadline. Things only have been getting worse lately, though."It's frustrating," Norman said, "but we'll find it."Notes: LB Ryan Anderson (hamstring) and G Tony Bergstrom (knee, ankle) were ruled out for Sunday, while LB Zach Brown (illness), C Chase Roullier (knee), DL Matt Ioannidis (bruised shin) and WR Josh Doctson (strained hip) were listed as questionable. ... With all the injuries along the offensive line, Gruden said the team hadn't yet decided who will start at the two guard spots and that the team might do some rotating of players during the game.Follow Howard Fendrich on Twitter at ://HowardFendrichs://apnews/NFL and s://AP_NFL It’s "What if...??" day for the Sixpack." />Skip to main contentclockmenumore-arrownoyesHogs Haven homepageHorizontal - WhiteHogs Havena Washington Redskins communityFollow Hogs Haven online:Follow Hogs Haven on TwitterFollow Hogs Haven on FacebookLog in or sign upLog InSign UpSite searchSearchSearchHogs Haven main menuFanpostsFanshotsSectionsRedskinsMastheadOddsShopCommunity GuidelinesStubHubMoreAll 321 blogs on Horizontal - WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Looks Like Someone Has A Sixpack Of The MondaysDaily SlopRedskins RecapsEDTOnce a summer, we engage in the age-old game of “What if?” with all of our SB Nation brethren. Instead of picking just one scenario and chasing it deep into the rabbit hole, I thought I would lend the Sixpack format to the concept this year. Let me just save you from the #1 “What if?” that every Redskins fan suggests every time we play this game: “What if Dan Snyder never bought the team?” First of all, we have to give ourselves a break from that —every time I allow myself to go down that road, it’s like I’m in the Leonardo DiCaprio movie “Inception.” If you stay too long, you could get trapped in that dream forever. As glorious as it is when I imagine such a world, envisioning all the Super Bowl trophies and respect we would have earned only makes the gut-punch of reality that much worse. So I figured we would stick to a different brand of “what if” game-playing. Here goes:“What if the Redskins are just hell-bent on making Dwayne Haskins the starter in week one?” This is a fear for many Redskins fans, because it fits a very weary narrative in the Dan Snyder era of the team forcing things based on marketing and promotion. First and foremost, the decision on when to play Haskins needs to be a football decision and not a marketing decision. To the Redskins credit Womens Bryce Love Jersey , we are not (yet) being bombarded with any ridiculous Haskins marketing campaigns that would indicate the PR guys are in charge of the roster. Beyond this being a football decision though, I would take it a step further. You might ordinarily say, “Play the best guy.” You would ordinarily be right. I would deviate from that with Haskins though, wanting to also answer the question of, “Can we win with him right now?” Haskins could very well be the “best” quarterback on our roster when it comes to athleticism, arm strength and upside, but being the best quarterback on a roster that currently features a one-legged guy, a second guy healing from multiple surgeries on a broken leg and a journeyman veteran on a one-year deal doesn’t necessarily make you Joe Montana. The decision on Haskins has to take into account whether he can play at a high enough level for the team to expect to win, not just to get him some early reps in his career. I stand ready to listen to whatever argument/explanation emerges whenever we get the news on who is starting, but at this point, we aren’t being force-fed a pre-meditated answer in fancy packaging.“What if the Redskins are on the playoff bubble in November behind consistent yet uninspiring quarterback play?” This would be my Lamar Jackson scenario. Assuming Haskins is putting in the hours on film study and footwork, and he is displaying a firm understanding of say, 80-85% of the offense or better, would you consider making a change at that point? My answer to this is a resounding “YES.” My biggest fear for Haskins is that the Redskins stumble out of the gate and insert him into the lineup to “create a spark.” To me, that spark would do little more than reignite the dumpster fire that only sometimes gets put out at FedEx. It wouldn’t be fair to Haskins, in my opinion. If he plays poorly, as you might expect a rookie to do, will that hurt his growth? Would we really be expecting a rookie to come in and change the fortunes of the franchise overnight? Hey https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-terry-mclaurin-jersey , I was front and center for that RG3 rookie ride. It was fun, but there was very little sustainable about it. A way better situation to me would be if the team was playing decently enough to support trotting out Haskins to see if he could be what gets us over the playoff hump. I feel like the team would be shouldering a much heavier share of the burden in this situation.“What if Trent Williams refuses to report?” This question simply must be asked. We don’t yet know if this is what is going to happen and we don’t yet know what path exists to resolution between the Redskins and Trent. No need for me or any of you to regurgitate the same points we have been making on this topic, so if anyone has anything new or inspiring, let me know. Oh yeah, this impacts the first two “What if’s” in a pretty major way.“What if Rob Ryan is the right guy for his job?” I honestly don’t know about this one, but I do know this: with Reuben Foster out, the inside linebackers on this team are going to have to play above their pay grade. That requires coaching...good coaching. The Redskins are going to need their young ILB’s to step up, and in their quest to do so, they will have a guy leading their position group meetings who has been a defensive coordinator for SEVEN different teams. He was the linebackers coach for two different New England Patriots championship teams. Honestly, that might do it for me. For a while though, it is going to be pretty weird seeing him on the burgundy and gold sideline.“What if the Redskins go 9-7 this season?” This question deserves to be answered because it would settle at least a handful of...unsettled things. For example, I think 9-7 or better keeps Jay Gruden FIRMLY in the fold as head coach. off of Bruce Allen (not from me or from many of you...but wins always help the general manager). You can pretty much count on Snyder/Allen weaponizing a 9-7 record against preseason naysayers. This record would be seen as overachieving by pretty much every objective mind covering the league, so they would be sort of within their rights. I think one of the best consequences of a winning record for such a young team would be that the Redskins might be able to parlay that into a big-time free agent acquisition. These days, it takes more than money to attract the top talent in the league—the players you actually want have a strong desire to win. Being able to show what this youthful group is capable of could be just what we need to convince a “missing piece” kind of player to come here (think wide receiver or even offensive lineman).

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin acknowledged his team’s spotty track record in Oakland before the AFC North leaders headed west last week but added “it’s not a major component of logistical preparation.”Maybe T. J. Watt Jersey White , but history ended up repeating itself anyway in a 24-21 loss to the team tied with the worst record in the league on Sunday, one who has bailed on this season to build toward the future but found three hours of sustained competence while keeping Pittsburgh winless in Oakland this millennium. The Steelers (7-5-1) let the Raiders drive the length of the field twice for touchdowns in the fourth quarter, yielding much in the same way they did in the second half of a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers a week earlier. What seemed like a relatively easy path to a fifth straight playoff berth during a six-game winning streak has become decidedly more perilous.“You can tell the whole locker room is sick,” safety Sean Davis said. “We’re just going to take it personal. Continue to work. Keep our heads up. We have three more guaranteed (games).”The only surefire way for Pittsburgh to earn the right to play into January is beat New England — something it’s done just twice in the past 11 meetings — at home next Sunday, then topple NFC-leading New Orleans on the road before finishing up at Heinz Field against Cincinnati, which knows a thing or two about playing spoiler . Last season the Bengals stunned the Ravens on Andy Dalton’s 49-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Boyd on a fourth-and-12 play with 49 seconds left that sent the Bengals to a 31-27 win that kept Baltimore out of the playoffs and gave the Bills their first postseason appearance since 1999.“We all need to look in the mirror and figure out what’s going on,” Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said. “It starts with each individual. We have to look inside first.”The view might not be particularly pretty at the moment — literally — for Roethlisberger. The 36-year-old spent most of the second half on the bench with an unspecified rib injury only to be forced back into action when the Raiders took the lead with just over five minutes to go. He went a perfect 6 for 6 on the ensuing drive Terrell Edmunds Jersey White , capping it with a 1-yard touchdown pass to JuJu Smith-Schuster.Roethlisberger — with more than a little help from Smith-Schuster — nearly pulled off a stunner when the Steelers ran a perfectly executed hook-and-lateral on the penultimate snap that put Pittsburgh easily within makeable field goal range for Chris Boswell.Roethlisberger finished 25 of 29 for 282 yards and two touchdowns, looking so fresh at the end that Tomlin’s explanation that the team stuck with backup Josh Dobbs for four series because the Steelers were “in the flow of the game” seemed baffling.“I was just waiting for coach to tell me when to go,” said Roethlisberger, who expects to be ready to face the Patriots (9-4).The handling of Roethlisberger was just one of several ultimately dubious decisions by Tomlin, who opted not to call timeout with the Raiders driving in the final minute to make sure Roethlisberger had plenty of time to work with just in case the Raiders scored.Tomlin said he trusted his defense, one that has now allowed the game-winning score on long fourth-quarter drives in three successive weeks. In Denver, the Broncos went 79 yards in 11 plays after a James Conner fumble. The Chargers covered 64 yards in 11 plays to set up a chip-shot field goal as time expired. The Raiders moved 75 yards in eight plays Womens JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey , culminating in Derek Carr’s 6-yard flip to Derek Carrier with 21 seconds to go.“We didn’t get off the field when we needed to,” defensive tackle Cameron Heyward said. “Our offense kept us in the game. Even at the end they were moving the ball.We had a fourth-and-6, you can’t ask for a better opportunity. It’s a team game, but we have to get the stop right there.”Still, the Steelers had a chance to push it to an extra period only to see Boswell’s nightmarish season take another brutal twist.A Pro Bowler a year ago during a season in which he made three last-second game-winning kicks, Boswell’s 40-yard attempt on the final play never had a chance. His left leg slipped on the always iffy turf at Oakland Coliseum and the ball smacked off the rear of an offensive lineman in front of him as Pittsburgh remained winless in Oakland since 1995.Boswell, who signed a contract extension that runs through 2022 in the offseason Womens T. J. Watt Jersey , has made just 10 of 16 field goals this season. His five missed extra points are also the most by any kicker that started on Sunday.“I mean it’s definitely a lot of heat on you, but it’s not the first time in my life this has happened,” Boswell said. “I just have to find a way through it.”He might as well have been talking about his team, one whose uneven year could end far sooner than anyone in the locker room anticipated.“We just have to find a way to get a win,” Heyward said. “I don’t care who can play. It’s unacceptable. You have to find a way to get over the hill, man.” Well, that didn’t last long.Xenith announced Sept. 4 that it had a helmet partnership with Antonio Brown for him to wear its Shadow model. PFT noted Wednesday that Brown no longer was wearing a Xenith helmet. The helmet manufacturer announced Friday it has ended its relationship with the Patriots receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey White , Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.“We look forward to seeing the Xenith Shadow worn by football athletes at all levels of play this fall,” the company said, via Schefter. It is unclear whether Xenith ended its relationship with Brown because Brown decided to wear a different helmet or because of a lawsuit filed this week accusing Brown of rape and sexual assault.Brown filed two grievances for the right to wear the now-discontinued Schutt Air Advantage, the helmet he has worn his entire career. Brown now is wearing a newer Schutt model called the Schutt Air XP, per Helmet Stalker.

ALAMEDA https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-antonio-brown-jersey , Calif. (AP) — Mike Mayock pulled off a bit of a shocker with his first pick as an NFL general manager that even surprised the player he selected. The Oakland Raiders used the fourth pick in the draft on Clemson defensive end Clelin Ferrell on Thursday night, passing up other pass rushers rated higher by analysts in the team’s quest to find a replacement for Khalil Mack.“There were flashier players, players that other people may have had higher on their boards, teams may have had higher on their boards,” Mayock said. “On our board, it was he and (No. 2 pick Nick) Bosa at that position, right next to each other at that position. We knew he’d probably be there. Everybody else had all the big names up there. … He checked all the boxes. He’s going to be a three-down player. He’s 267 pounds, he’s a captain, he’s one of the best leaders.”Ferrell said he knew the Raiders liked him but didn’t know if they would use the first of three first-round selections to take him. Many analysts had players like Kentucky edge rusher Josh Allen and Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver rated higher than Ferrell but Mayock and coach Jon Gruden went a different direction.“I’d be lying to you if I said I wasn’t surprised,” Ferrell said. “This was a really, really long process for me. I don’t pay attention to the mock drafts. Those things are stupid. Just talking to my agent, we didn’t know what to expect going in. But me personally, I always felt like I was going to be a Raider. I had such a good relationship and good meetings with the Raiders. It was just a great process.”The Raiders then used the 24th overall pick acquired in the deal that sent Mack to Chicago to take Alabama running back Josh Jacobs to replace Marshawn Lynch, who isn’t expected to return this season. Oakland then took Mississippi State safety Jonathan Abram with the 27th pick acquired from Dallas for receiver Amari Cooper. The Raiders became the fifth team this century to make three first-round picks in the same draft, with the Giants also making three first-round picks this year.“We’re building our team and we need building blocks,” Gruden said. “We had some in place. But we needed these guys to come in and inherit that responsibility.”The Raiders’ most glaring need was at edge rusher after trading Mack last year to Chicago for a package that included two first-round picks. Oakland finished last in the NFL with 13 sacks in 2019, 17 fewer than the next worst team. Their 95 total pressures, according to SportRadar, also ranked last — 29 fewer than 31st place Tampa Bay.Ferrell had 11 1/2 sacks last season for the national champion Tigers and finished with 27 sacks in 84 career games. He also had 59 quarterback pressures, according to Sports Info Solutions.Oakland has been busy this offseason, adding receivers Antonio Brown and Tyrell Williams, tackle Trent Brown and several potential starters in the back seven on defense. But they have little in place at edge rusher with Arden Key and Benson Mayowa the top players currently on the roster. Key had just one sack as a rookie Womens Derek Carr Jersey , while Mayowa has 13 sacks in 72 career games.Jacobs was the first running back or receiver taken in the draft despite being only a part-time player in college at Alabama. He had double-digit carries just seven times in his career and ran for 100 yards only once as he shared time with Damien Harris and Najee Harris.Jacobs finished his career with 251 carries for 1,491 yards (5.9 per carry) and had 48 catches for 571 yards. He joins a backfield with Isaiah Crowell, Jalen Richard, DeAndre Washington and Chris Warren III.“I felt like he was the most complete running back in this draft and I’m glad he’s my teammate and we can go tear the league up together,” said Abram, who played against Jacobs in the SEC.Abram is a versatile safety capable of playing both in the box or deep. He gives the Raiders insurance if they decide not to pick up the fifth-year option on 2016 first-round safety Karl Joseph, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal.Abram had two interceptions, three sacks and five passes defensed last season and is the type of hard-hitter that reminds Gruden of former Raiders safeties Jack Tatum and George Atkinson.“I’m going to try to get him to wear number 32 or 43,” Gruden said, referring to the numbers Tatum and Atkinson wore. “He’s like one of the old-school safeties. He’s a physical, sideline to sideline tackling machine in college. I hope it continues here.” Even before the draft is over, the phones are heating up as the Raiders attempt to reel in a few players they considered draft worthy, but didn’t get with one of their nine draft picks. There is a..."Even before the draft is over, the phones are heating up as the Raiders attempt to reel in a few players they considered draft worthy, but didn’t get with one of their nine draft picks. There is a lot of talent still out there. A slimmed-down Rob Kelley is likely to remain Washington’s top running back even though Adrian Peterson is joining the Redskins.Amid four injuries in their backfield Womens Dwayne Haskins Jersey , the Redskins signed the 33-year-old four-time All-Pro running back on Monday. But Kelley, the former “Fat Rob” who lost weight and added speed to his repertoire, should still be considered the front-runner to start Week 1 at the Arizona Cardinals.Washington lost second-round pick Derrius Guice to a season-ending torn ACL, won’t have Samaje Perine and Byron Marshall for an extended period of time because of lower-leg injuries and waived undrafted free agent Martez Carter with an injury designation. That necessitated signing Peterson —a former standout at Oklahoma who played the majority of his career with the Vikings — and fellow running back De’Veon Smith, though coach Jay Gruden gave Kelley a vote of confidence on Sunday.“We’re not looking for a starter right now,” Gruden said. “We’ve got Rob in-house, obviously Chris Thompson, Kapri Bibbs has done a good job, Samaje I don’t think is going to be very long at all. So we’ve got four backs right there.”On the first day of camp, Gruden was only sure of one thing: that third-down back Chris Thompson would be on the roster and figure prominently in his return from a broken fibula. Kelley, a 2016 undrafted free agent who emerged as Washington’s No. 1 running back during his rookie year and started 2017 on top of the depth chart, cut his hair short, added more muscle and looks quicker to Gruden at a svelte 222 pounds.“It was time for a change,” Kelley said of trimming his dreadlocks. “It was like a bold statement showing that I’m ready to change, rather than just coming in and talking about it how much I’m going to change and stuff like that. Just change within and the hair was just like a statement.”Kelley got the first chance with the first-team offense in the Redskins’ second preseason game and is trying to focus on showing his best and not the competition for the starting role.“Early on I thought about it a lot, but now I try not to think about it,” Kelley said. “I don’t try and put too much on myself that potentially distracts me from actually getting better.”When Guice looked like the starter, Kelley fielded questions about taking snaps at fullback and helping out on special teams. He was willing to do whatever it took to make the team, though the 25-year-old Tulane product didn’t rule out winning back the starting job he lost last season because of injuries.“There’s competition whether you think it or not,” Kelley said. “I just make sure I go out there and I make a few plays that the catch the coaches’ eyes and stuff like that and put myself in a great position.”He’s in a great position now by default, though Gruden also said Kelley has had a great training camp. Kelley ran for just 17 yards on seven carries last week against the Jets and the bevvy of injuries created a need to bring in another running back.“If something else happens, we’re going to be really, really, really thin, so we just want to make sure we’re covering all our bases right now,” Gruden said.Kelley will have to keep competing to fend off Peterson for a bulk of the carries, but that’s a big step up from being on the roster bubble a month ago. More competition is for the best for Kelley, who is no stranger to overcoming odds and winning a competition as an underdog.“I think the hurdles just make me a better player,” Kelley said. “It’s the team’s job to keep on getting competition, to keep pushing the envelope, so it doesn’t make a difference (and I’ve) still got to work as hard as I can.” EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — There was a lot of laughter and smiles in the Washington Redskins‘ locker room, the exact opposite of what was happening down the hall where the New York Giants were dressing. It’s the difference between winning and losing. The Redskins (5-2) are winning these days. They won their third in a row and kept their 1½-game lead in the NFC East with a 20-13 win over the hapless Giants, who are 1-7 for the second consecutive season.“We feel good, but, we can’t get too excited,” said Adrian Peterson Dwayne Haskins Jersey White , who rushed for 149 yards and scored two touchdowns, one on a 64-yard run and the other on a 7-yard reception. “We know there’s a lot we need to work on, and that we can improve on. So, we’ll take this win for what it is, and get ready for this next game.”Washington, who got two interceptions by D.J. Swearinger, returns home to face Atlanta on Sunday. The Giants have a bye but their future may change in the next two days. The NFL trading deadline is Tuesday. New York dealt cornerback Eli Apple and defensive tackle Damon Harrison last week. There could be more moves with cornerback Janoris Jenkins, linebacker Olivier Vernon and probably anybody else who will bring assets to help rebuild a team that has four wins in 24 games.Quarterback Eli Manning, who was sacked seven times, indicated he wants to stay and won’t waive his no-trade clause.“Everyone wants to win,” said Manning, who threw for 316 yards. “No one likes this feeling after a game. That is what you are fighting for. You prepare to feel good about the work that goes in. Guys are working hard, practicing hard and doing all of the right things.”They just aren’t winning.RUN DEFENSEThe key to the Redskins success has been their defense, particularly against the run. Washington has held opponents under 100 yards in four straight games and five of seven. A week after limiting Ezekiel Elliott of Dallas to 34 yards, rookie Saquon Barkley of the Giants was held to 38 on 13 carries, with a long of 9 yards.Redskins linebacker Zach Brown said he was yappy with Barkley, the No. 2 pick in the draft.“Come here rook,” Brown recalled. “We want to introduce you to this game real quick. We don’t care what round you are. You can be All Pro. We don’t care. We just emphasis the run. You are not running the ball.”PETERSON-BARKLEYThe first meeting of Peterson and Saquon Barkley was clearly won by the veteran. The 33-year-old gained a season-high 149 yards on 26 carries, capped by a late 64-yard touchdown that iced the game. He also caught his first TD pass with Washington. He passed Tony Dorsett for No. 9 in league history and now has 12,863 yards. He is the fourth player in the NFL with at least 140 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown in a single game at age 33 or older, joining John Henry Johnson (1964), John Riggins (1984) and De Angelo Williams (2016). Barkley, the second pick overall in the draft, gained 38 yards rushing on 13 carries and caught nine passes for 73 yards.MIFFED SWEARINGERSwearinger was angry because Pro Football Focus listed him as their top safety and didn’t post his picture. He took it out on the Giants.“This was the first week they didn’t put the number one’s picture up,” Swearinger said. “I feel like that was disrespect so I tweeted them and said make sure they watch this game today, because I wanted to show them that I am the best safety in this game and I’m going to keep doing that every game, week in and week out, so they just got to get mad at me.”SACK CITYThe Giants offensive line has struggled all season, but this was their worst effort. a season-high seven times. He now has been sacked 31 times this season. “I didn’t know it was that many,” center Spencer Pulley said. “That’s ridiculous. That’s something we can’t allow, at all.”Manning said each sack had its own story. Some were coverage sacks. Some were linemen getting beat. Some were him not getting the ball out fast enough.“I think we’ve got to get the run game going,” tackle Nate Solder said. “There’s some other things we need to work at. If we could get that going, that would solve some other problems.”BECKHAM PRODUCINGOdell Beckham, Jr. had eight receptions for 136 yards. He caught eight passes for 143 yards last week in Atlanta. This is the first time he’s had at least eight receptions in each of two consecutive games since Nov. 1-8, 2015, when he had eight and then nine at New Orleans and Tampa Bay. These are his first consecutive 100-yard games since he had six in a row in 2015.

The 2018 NFL season was a disappointing season for the Pittsburgh Steelers Terrell Edmunds Jersey White , to say the least. Actually, the last handful of seasons have all ended well short of expectations. Even though the Steelers have been blessed for a number of years with some of the best skill position players in the league, they have zero titles to show for it. The excuses have been plentiful; ranging from injuries, suspensions, holdouts, etc. Through all the underachieving seasons there have been two constant concerns breathing down the Steelers neck, Father Time and the New England Patriots. The Patriots are like a masked killer in any slasher flick, and the Steelers have represented the libido crazed teenagers. You know the stereotype. Good looking, care free Womens JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey , over confident, and always engaging in questionable behavior. The Patriots have been closing in on their status of most Super Bowl titles by a franchise, but the Steelers have proven incapable of doing anything to stop the assault. The Steelers have resembled a panicking teen who is running aimlessly at full speed in no particular direction, repeatedly tripping over their own feet for no apparent reason, as the theme music eerily gets louder as the steady gait of the killer inexplicably allows him to overtake the victim. That perfectly describes the Patriots in their pursuit; consistent unrelenting pressure. The Patriots have finally caught the Steelers and a new question arises. What will the Steelers do now?The Steelers really only have two options, fight or die. The Steelers can accept their fate and perish, similar to the scantily clad cheerleader or the token virgin nerd who are always earmarked as the first to die. The other option is to take a page from the mysterious, troubled loner with a backstory that inevitably fights to survive. The realization that survival may require mimicking your opponent's unfamiliar strategy. This off season for the Pittsburgh Steelers will offer visual evidence of what type of franchise they want to be.As Anthony Defeo detailed in an article just this week, the Steelers have already displayed an apparent shift in team building principles during the past couple of drafts. After apparently getting their fill of the talented me first players already under contract Womens T. J. Watt Jersey , the Steelers have narrowed their search to potential draft picks of high character who possess reputations of being good teammates. I fully expect that trend to continue this off season, especially considering this past drama filled season of discontent. While that is a good place to start, it really is only the tip of the iceberg. The Steelers need to reexamine their entire modus operandi if they intend on winning another Super Bowl in today's NFL.The Steelers franchise is renowned for loyalty, to their players and their coaches. But loyalty goes both ways, and society standards have changed even though the Rooneys have not. At one time a man's word was his bond, and a handshake was as good as a signed contract. Not being a man of your word would bring disgrace to your family. That is no longer the case, nor how business is done. The Steelers have displayed loyalty to a few players lately that haven't responded in kind. Instead of sacrificing their individual stats and talents for the betterment of the team, these particular individuals have been more concerned with setting salary precedents and their business portfolios. Art Rooney II gambled on a couple of high risk propositions, and lost. His father liked games of chance JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey White , but knew when he had a losing hand. Art II may be able to hedge his bets, and still get something in return? Only time will tell.Although the off season has just officially started, the Steelers have already made some huge decisions. The expected changes to the coaching staff never materialized, and the changes were few and uneventful. Hopefully this display of loyalty will prove enlightening when it is all said and done. The team has already verbally committed to extending Ben's contract and made known their desire to keep the offensive line intact, but decisions on some of their own UFAs remain. Those decisions, especially along that offensive line, may prove vexing. Also, will the Steelers finally utilize free agency to obtain proven talent by offering more guaranteed money to free agents, or be more aggressive in trading up for a preferred target in the draft? Answers to these questions will undoubtedly shape the Steelers ability to contend in the near future https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-juju-smith-schuster-jersey , and beyond.Whatever the decisions may be, the Pittsburgh Steelers have to find a balance between old school values and new age principles. The Pittsburgh Steelers need an aggressive approach this off season because the Patriots have proven to be far from finished. Just like all the infamous killers from the movies, Brady and Belichick keep coming back when you least expect it. Just ask the Atlanta Falcons. Multiple former Steelers have taken to social media this offseason to express complaints about the team, and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.Steelers starting offensive linemen Ramon Foster and Maurkice Pouncey are offering to talk to any former players who want to address a concern — as long as the players come to them privately, rather than air dirty laundry publicly.“Moving forward, any former player or affiliate of the Steelers who has an issue with anyone still in the locker room, please contact me or Maurkice Pouncey or anyone else you feel you can talk to,” Foster wrote on Twitter. “Whoever you have an issue with, we will get you their number so you can address them. I PROMISE. These media takes might give y’all good traffic on your social media outlets but the guys still in that locker room Womens James Conner Jersey , who y’all still know personally have to answer for those comments. Call them what you want, but call them personally and tell THEM. Defend who you want to defend but you don’t have to mention the team at all. Whether you have a ring or played for one year. ENOUGH. CHILL. Most players at one point in their life want to take their kids back to the place where they once played, don’t burn too many bridges. It’s a long history or brotherhood more than anything. BUSINESS is one thing but let’s keep it at a minimum for the guys who have to answer for those comments moving forward.”It’s easy to understand why Foster feels that way, but also easy to predict that it won’t happen. Sometimes people want to air their issues publicly, and a plea from Foster is unlikely to change anyone’s mind.

The 24-year-old Okwara started taking photographs when he was a kid and has developed his passion over the years. While playing for the New York Giants in 2017, he visited a firehouse in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood because he thought it would be cool to hang out with firefighters.Okwara was inspired to return to capture behind-the-scenes images of the men and women he met, along with the building they call home when they're not fighting fires. Okwara made 15 to 20 visits over two years, most recently in July, and produced about 25 pictures that will be prominently displayed at his exhibit."I'm excited to show what these firefighters do, giving people the inside scoop on what it's like to run into burning building to save lives," Okwara said Wednesday. "I didn't go in buildings with them, but I was on site when they were on call."The Lions, who open the season Sunday at Arizona, added Okwara off waivers from the Giants nearly a year ago. It proved to be a shrewd move for the team, and it paid off for him, too.Okwara led the Lions with 7½ sacks last season after he had only one sack in 20 games over two years with the Giants. It was all part of the seventh NFL boot camp that USAA has hosted this season and the first in the Chicago/Milwaukee region."It's been nearly 20 years since I ran through drills at the NFL combine, so I'm glad I was only coaching our military today and not actually running the 40," Urlacher said. "We spend a lot of tough days working real hard doing different types of training that is high risk. When you get to come out and have fun for a few hours, it's nice to be able to relax, lift morale up, and enjoy yourselves."A-ROD GIVES BACKThree Northern California high schools have received the highly rated VICIS ZERO1 helmet in a donation by Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.Rodgers gifted 375 of the helmets, which finished first in NFL/NFLPA laboratory testing for the past three years. Pleasant Valley High School, Chico High School, and Paradise High School will get the helmets.Players on 30 NFL teams, more than 200 NCAA programs and 1,800-plus high schools wear the ZERO1.Rodgers, a Chico native and Pleasant Valley High School alumnus, made the donation through his foundation; it also comes one year after the Camp Fire destroyed much of Paradise and threatened much of Butte County, California."I don't know if anybody outside of Paradise and Butte County can truly understand what football means to helping us feel normal again. We've got some big competition and we're prepared for a tough season. We're grateful for Aaron's donation," said Rick Prinz, Paradise High School's coach.Rodgers also is a VICIS investor."For me, this is a chance to step up and support the community where I was born and raised," he said."Football has always been more than a game here," Rodgers said. "I chose to invest in VICIS because of their ultimate commitment to player protection. ENGLEWOOD John Elway Jersey White , Colo. (AP) — Emmanuel Sanders and Phillip Lindsay provided the good vibes at Vic Fangio’s first training camp practice in Denver before linebacker Todd Davis was carted off with a right lower leg injury in the closing minutes Thursday.Davis was taken for an MRI. He was injured during a team drill with about 5 minutes left in practice and was carted off the field, although he walked into the building under his own power.Outside linebacker Bradley Chubb said after practice that Davis is a “huge part of the defense.”“Todd, I feel like he’s one of the most vocal leaders on this team — not just the defense,” Chubb said. “He’s one of those guys that sometimes last year in the games, I’d be like, ‘Hey, Todd, what I got right here?’ He just always knows what he’s doing. He’s always reliable. He’s always making the right calls.”Sanders (Achilles tendon) and Lindsay (wrist surgery) returned to action for the first time since they got hurt last December.“It’s good to see those guys out there,” said new quarterback Joe Flacco. “Those guys have so much energy. I mean, Phillip, he’s like one of my kids. I don’t know where he gets all the energy but he has it 24/7. … Emmanuel, I mean the way I’ve seen him work this whole offseason, he’s looked incredible.”Fangio said he’ll slowly add to Sanders’ workload and that Lindsay has no limitations. At one point, general manager John Elway huddled with Flacco Womens Royce Freeman Jersey , whom he acquired in a trade with Baltimore, and rookie QB Drew Lock, who signed a four-year, deal worth about $7 million on the eve of camp .Flacco is the starter and Lock is vying to serve as his backup.“I grew up watching John Elway,” Flacco said. “While we’re kind of colleagues now and we’re sharing the same field, there’s still a little bit of that kid in you that (thinks), ‘Man, John Elway’s standing right next to me.’ So, you try to act as normal as possible and just shoot the breeze. John’s ‘The Man’ around here. Hopefully there’s room for a couple more people.”Notes: Although it was a blistering hot day, Fangio shrugged it off, saying, “The heat wasn’t bad. You’ve got to remember, I spent nine years in New Orleans, some time in South Carolina and Houston. They pray for a day like this.” The Hall of Fame middle linebacker joined 1st & 10 @ 10 to chat about the new Broncos head coach and what makes a great inside linebacker." Given that, what does Singletary think about Fangio and the hire to be Denver’s head coach? “Time will tell about the hire itself,” Singletary said. “But what he’s been able to do as a coordinator has been extraordinary. I think he’s done a great job of putting the right guys in the right position and being able to have a scheme that allows them to play at the best of their ability.” Steve Atwater said it best about Singletary. linebackers, Atwater said they don’t make them like Singletary anymore. That brought forth a good question from Atwater — what characteristics make up a great inside linebacker? “I think one of the best characteristics that make up a really good middle linebacker is instincts,” Singletary told the guys on 1st & 10 @ 10 on Thursday. “A guy can be fast. A guy can be tough. You can put a guy who has never really played linebacker and you see a guy start to pick up things. So to me, that’s the No. 1 characteristic of a really good middle linebacker.”What will be fun to watch for over the course of training camp and preseason is how Fangio and defensive coordinator Ed Donatell best utilize both Todd Davis, Josey Jewell and the other middle linebackers on the roster. We know Fangio has a scheme that puts players in the best situation to have success, and Jewell already loves Fangio’s coaching style and his defense. They won’t turn into Singletary, but both Davis and Jewell have the instincts he said are key.

Washington linebacker Reuben Foster was placed on the Commissioner Exempt list after last week’s arrest on a domestic violence charge and he reportedly won’t be trying to force his way off the list in the near future.Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Foster has agreed to remain on the list while his case makes its way through the legal system.Foster was claimed off of waivers by Washington after being released by the 49ers in the wake of his arrest. The team said Foster “will have to go through numerous steps including the full legal process Dwayne Haskins Jersey White , an investigation and potential discipline from the NFL” before they will consider putting him on the field, so accepting his placement on the exempt list does not come as a great surprise.Foster will be paid while on the list, but is ineligible to play or practice. It is unlikely that a resolution to his case or change in his status will come before the end of the 2018 season. Case Keenum was the starting quarterback in Minnesota. Until he wasn’t.He was the starting quarterback in Denver, too. Until he wasn’t.Now, Keenum is the starting quarterback in Washington. Until he isn’t.Washington traded for Keenum on March 7, expecting Keenum to compete with Colt McCoy for the starting job. But McCoy, recovering from a third surgery on the ankle he broke last season, is not expected back for at least two months. And Washington since has added rookie Dwayne Haskins to the quarterbacks room, using a first-round pick on the Ohio State signal caller. So where does that leave Keenum?“I think first of all my job is to help this team win no matter what,” Keenum said Monday, via Les Carpenter of the . “That’s being ready to play; that’s being ready to put our offense specifically in the best position to move the ball, get first downs and get touchdowns — score points. That’s my job. That’s what I’m here to do.“ou learn Womens Bryce Love Jersey , you might mention something [to Haskins]. But we’ve got a lot of great coaches in that quarterback room, so I don’t need to be a coach in that sense, but I learned more just by watching players around me. First and foremost my job is to get ready to play and be ready when they need me.” It was the first interview for Keenum with the Washington media since he was traded from Denver. He lasted only one season with the Broncos, who signed him as a free agent a year ago.“I’ve been around long enough to know I’m not surprised anymore by just about anything,” he said.Keenum, 31, is with his fifth team in six seasons and likely not long for Washington. Coach Jay Gruden said Monday he expects McCoy back for training camp and wants three quarterbacks to compete for the job.Eventually, that job will belong to Haskins. “This is no new game to me,” Keenum said, laughing.

Steelers vs. Falcons: 9 Winners and 2 Losers after the huge win over Atlanta in Week 5 The Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Falcons took part in a huge game at Heinz Field on Sunday Terrell Edmunds Jersey White , and the Steelers presented their loyal fan base with their first home win of the regular season. The 41-17 victory was the most complete performance by the team to date, and there were some good, and bad, performances worthy of recognition.During the game, some perform well, while others fall short of the standard. This is where the Winners and Losers column comes in. After the game, when the dust settles, we decipher who falls into which category. As always, feel free to comment on the list in the comment section below. Be part of the conversation!WinnersJames ConnerStat Line: 21 carries, 110, 2 TDs / 4 receptions, 75 yards, 4 targetsWhat else is there to say about James Conner’s day which hasn’t already been said? I haven’t seen a running back so hard to bring down since Jerome Bettis roamed the backfield for the Steelers. Conner, when given the opportunity, has proven he is up for the task at hand. Kudos to Conner for taking advantage of a game plan which had him as the focal point.Antonio BrownStat Line: 6 receptions, 101 yards, 2 TDsIt wasn’t always pretty, and it started off rough, but the Ben to Brown connection caught fire at the right time. While essentially shut out in the first half, Brown exploded in the second for his first 100 yard receiving performance of the season. Hopefully this connection is just starting to heat up at just the right time.Ben RoethlisbergerStat Line: 19/29, 250 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT, 112.7 Passer RatingRoethlisberger’s stat line is what Steelers fans should want to see. Nothing crazy, but efficient football. Take away his idiotic interception, more on that later, and Roethlisberger played a very good game. He took what the defense was giving him, and the Steelers offense dominated. 9 of 12 on 3rd downs was a very nice change in the right direction, and largely because of the play of No. 7.Roosevelt NixStat Line: Blocked punt, dominating lead blockingWhen the Steelers gave Roosevelt Nix a new contract this offseason Womens JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey , some wondered why they would do that when they rarely use a fullback in the offense. Probably because he does so much more than lead blocking on this team. Nix’s special teams play has been phenomenal, and he proved this again when he blocked the Falcons’ punt in the later portion of the game. Throw in some great lead blocking and Nix deserves to be in the winner column today.T.J. WattStat Line: 8 tackles, 6 solo, 3 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 3 QB hitsEveryone has said it, “When will T.J. Watt be showing up?” It seemed as if the second year linebacker’s only good performances came against the lowly Browns, but he changed this narrative with a dominating performance against the Falcons. Matt Ryan had been sacked 10 times coming into Week 5, and Watt added 3 more to that total by himself. Watt looked dynamic as ever, and the hope is he can continue this, and sustain it, for a full season.Mike HiltonStat Line: 2 tackles, 1 solo, 2 QB hitsSometimes you don’t appreciate someone until they are gone. This was the case with Mike Hilton when the cornerback missed the Week 4 game vs. the Baltimore Ravens with an elbow injury. With Hilton back in the mix on Sunday vs. Atlanta, the defense had a completely different feel. Hilton was a presence on the edge blitzing from the slot, and when they had to account for him it left more one-on-one matchups for the defensive linemen — and the Steelers were winning those matchups. Hilton is a much more valuable piece to the Steelers’ puzzle than most probably think.Joe HadenStat Line: 5 tackles, 5 solo, held Julio Jones to 5 rec. and 62 yardsDuring the game I wondered if the Steelers would have Haden follow Julio Jones, and it didn’t take long for the beat writers to say he was during the game. I became more and more impressed as the game went on and Jones was without a catch. In fact, it wasn’t until the second half when Jones recorded his first reception, and Haden is one of the main reasons why. Haden doesn’t just bring solid play to the field, but also is the glue which keeps the defense together. Haden might just be the defense’s MVP so far this season. The Coaching StaffStat Line: Huge bounce back performance in a must-win gameI’ve always believed coaches get too much blame when they lose, and not enough credit when they win. Everyone loves to bash Mike Tomlin, Keith Butler and Randy Fichtner when the team struggles, but what about when the team puts together a tremendous win in all phases of the game? Time to give the coaching staff some love. With their backs against the wall, desperate for a win, the team delivered. Offensive LineStat Line: 0 Sacks allowed / 131 rushing yards at 4.5 ypcTalk about a dominant performance. When the Steelers were taking a balanced approach to the offense, the big guys up front did more than enough for Randy Fichtner’s plan to work to perfection. Not allowing a sack, and dominating in the run game is a huge lift for this veteran group.LosersChris BoswellStat Line: 5/6 XPOn a day when he wasn’t called on to kick a field goal, missing an extra point is unacceptable. This points being left on the field are killers Womens T. J. Watt Jersey , just as the Green Bay Packers and Mason Crosby.Ben Roethlisberger’s Horrid INTStat Line: That was awfulI know Roethlisberger was also a winner, but he falls in the loser category for just one play. His interception at the end of the half was more than horrendous. It was atrocious. It was any other adjective you want to use, I have to keep it clean here on the site, but it was bad. Those are the types of plays which can lose you a football game. I am left wondering how many points the Steelers could have scored if not for Roethlisberger’s bone-headed play. Oh, the moans and groans in Nawlins. The consternation in Steeltown. The woe is me refrains in Carolina's Queen City. The joke's on me attitude in Jax.And the tabloid screams in the Big Apple.Maybe all of that dread and disgust will quiet down, at least for a week. Hey, folks, the new guys at quarterback did pretty darn well for your teams.Teddy Bridgewater was steady in place of Drew Brees, guiding the Saints to victory in Seattle, as tough a place to win as any.Kyle Allen, probably most famous in the NFL for once being a teammate of Kyler Murray's at Texas A&M, was a revelation in place of Cam Newton as the Panthers got their first victory of the season, in Arizona.Gardner Minshew is making Jaguars fans wonder why he was a sixth-round draft pick, stepping in for Nick Foles and looking like a starter (and future star).Daniel Jones, the guy who caused Giants general manager Dave Gettleman to be vilified for drafting the Duke QB sixth overall last April, looked worthy of a No. 1 overall pick. He stepped in for what the TV announcers were calling a New York legend, the benched Eli Manning, and lifted the team to last-minute victory at Tampa.Only Mason Rudolph, replacing Ben Roethlisberger (elbow surgery) for the Steelers, didn't get a win among the newcomers. But he didn't embarrass himself at all — and had Pittsburgh in position to beat San Francisco.Plus, in Indianapolis, this stuff isn't new for Jacoby Brissett, but his name certainly belongs high on the list of quarterbacks — eight teams already have them — who were not considered the starter last month and now are in charge of their teams.Yes, one-quarter of the league, as injuries, ineffectiveness and in one case, a retirement (Andrew Luck), created a sea wave of change that still could turn into a tsunami. There's no guarantees the likes of Marcus Mariota, Case Keenum, Jameis Winston or even Andy Dalton JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey White , despite his solid performances in Cincinnati's 0-3 start, will remain behind center. And that's not even considering more injuries that often come, no matter how much NFL rules try to protect the passer. For Week 3, though, let's celebrate these youngsters who stepped in and stepped up.KYLE ALLEN, PANTHERSIn his second-career start, Allen had four touchdown passes and a 144.4 QB rating."He's a guy who really keeps his composure," Carolina coach Ron Rivera said. "He understands. He's smart. He's got a good football mind."Not to mention the arm and legs he showed.DANIEL JONESAt some point, it was clear the struggling Giants would turn to Jones. It came a bit earlier than some expected. So did his first NFL heroics.Jones threw for 336 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for two TDs, including the go-ahead score with 1:16 remaining as New York rallied from an 18-point halftime hole to win 32-31."There's certain things that I knew about this kid when we drafted him. He was tough, he was competitive, and in my opinion he's a winner," Giants coach Pat Shurmur said. "Now the rest of it is just quarterback stuff. But those first three things give him a chance to move forward."TEDDY BRIDGEWATERIt's been a long road back for Bridgewater, who looked like Minnesota's franchise quarterback before a severe knee injury forced him to miss almost two seasons.Teaming with coach Sean Payton, whose offensive expertise obviously isn't limited to handing game plans to Brees, Bridgewater was exactly what the team needed."I said all week Teddy is a leader," after Bridgewater threw for a touchdown, was not picked, and helped New Orleans to a huge road victory. "He had composure. He had poise and we got it done."GARDNER MINSHEWThe rookie threw two touchdown passes against Tennessee last Thursday and also had a receiver drop a ball in the end zone. He's already a star in North Florida."Nothing rattles this kid," coach Doug Marrone said. "He's really good at communication and I think he's really good at preparing himself and making sure there are no surprises out there for him. That's just a guy that has a maniacal work ethic."MASON RUDOLPHThe showing by the second-year QB, basically a caddie for Roethlisberger until now, should calm the three rivers a bit in Pittsburgh. Rudolph wasn't spectacular, but also was victimized by some errors around him in the 24-20 loss to the Niners. He has no reason to hang his head."For a young guy to come and start his first game in an away game on the West Coast and going against a great team, I think he handled himself well," wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster said. "There were situations where we messed up, didn't execute or turned the ball over, he stayed positive and kept us going."

Late in the third quarter on Sunday in what had been a dominating performance by the Chargers Bo Jackson Jersey , the Raiders had a chance to pull within 20-10 with first and goal from the one-yard line. Everyone in the stadium including the Chargers defense knew the ball was going to Marshawn Lynch, except it wasn’t. Instead, Jon Gruden elected for a play action pass, and quarterback Derek Carr threw it right into the arms of Melvin Ingram to all but end the Raiders chances of a comeback. “We haven’t thrown the ball in a goal-to-go situation all year,” Gruden said. “It was first-and-goal, the decision there was to throw it. If it isn’t open, you throw it away. It didn’t work out. We expected that we’d have a wide open receiver on the play and obviously that will be second-guessed, rightfully so . . . I’ll live to hand the ball off on the next play, possibly.”This isn’t the first time Lynch has been deprived the football at the one-yard line, as an almost identical play cost the Seahawks Super Bowl XLIX. “I done seen it happen to me on the game’s biggest stage,” Lynch told ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez after the loss to the Chargers Sunday. “Now it’s happened in a regular-season game. It’s alright, though.”Lynch was told the stat that since the start of Super Bowl XLIX, teams with Lynch have now thrown four times from the one-yard line and are 0-4 including two interceptions. “That’s cute,” he replied. Heading into Sunday’s game, the running back nicknamed ‘Beastmode’ had forced 20 missed tackles, five more than the next closest rusher, earning an NFL-best 105.4 elusive rating from Pro Football Focus. An incredible 254 of his 300 rushing yards came after contact. His ‘unreal performance’ against the Browns in week three carried the Silver & Black to their first victory of the 2018 season. So for Gruden to refuse giving the ball to him in a short-yardage situation is inexcusable, yet it continues to happen. In week two, the Raiders were up 19-10 in Denver early in the fourth quarter with fourth and inches at the Broncos 33. But rather than lean on Lynch in one of the biggest plays of the game, Gruden elected to run a play action bootleg to fullback Keith Smith who dropped the pass. The following week against the Dolphins, Oakland was in a fourth and goal situation from the one-yard line. Gruden gave the ball to Smith who was stuffed and failed to convert.Later in the game on third and goal from the one-yard line, Gruden called Lynch’s number who skied over the Dolphins defense for a touchdown. “With [RB] Marshawn Lynch, we love to give him the ball but we had shown some things and they showed on film that this should be good and obviously they covered it and it didn’t work out,” explained Carr after the game. “But it’s been five games now where we’ve just — pow, pow, pow — so you have to throw a play action or else they’re all going to commit on him and it’s going to get stuck.”That’s all fine and good, except the “pow, pow, pow” plays that weren’t successful were ran with Smith rather than Lynch. After Carr’s goal line interception, Lynch was visibly upset taking off his helmet and looking like he wanted to throw it. While Gruden understands his frustration, it won’t stop him from passing on the goal line again.“I don’t want to see anybody get upset, I want everybody to be happy,” Gruden told the media on Monday. “It won’t be the last pass I call on first and goal either. I think that’s the best time to throw down there. I regret that it was intercepted. It turns out to be a horrible call. But we were down 20-3, Melvin Ingram’s your middle linebacker in a jam front and I wanted to throw a play action pass on the one foot line. My opinion is it shouldn’t have been intercepted, we shouldn’t do that right down there https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-antonio-brown-jersey , but we did, and Lynch is frustrated, I think I threw my visor and my headset, so I think he and I have a lot in common.” One thing they don’t have in common is Lynch’s role with the team in short yardage situations. Lynch’s agent CJ LaBoy perfectly summed up Gruden’s flawed logic when he tweeted, “You have the greatest and most ferocious/feared short yardage back of all time...and you don’t give him the ball at the goal line?” Hue Jackson doesn’t have a job, the first time in 32 years he has a fall with nothing to do. He hopes it’s a one-year hiatus.Despite going 8-8 in one season as the head coach of the Raiders and 3-36-1 in 2 1/2 seasons in Cleveland, Jackson wants another chance.“Oh, yeah, I mean I think I can,” Jackson said Wednesday on Charlotte’s WFNZ 102.5 FM. “I mean, just because the situation in Cleveland [didn’t work out] doesn’t mean that you can’t coach. There’s a lot of great coaches who came before me that coached there and went on and did great things. Sometimes, the situation is different. I think if people dig in and really take the time to look at the overall situation there, maybe they would understand it more. At the same time, I understand what narrative gets put out there, that’s what people know. Hopefully, people will think back to the times when I’ve put myself in that position. I had to be doing something right. I do believe it’s in my future. I’ve just got to go work through the process and see where it goes.”Jackson, 53, interviewed for the head coaching job of the Bengals and the offensive coordinator job with the Cardinals during the offseason. But he isn’t likely to get to get a third chance to make a second impression as a head coach.Instead, Jackson likely is remembered for his abysmal record in Cleveland. That’s not how Jackson wants people to remember him.“Here’s a guy who knows how to overcome,” Jackson said when asked his narrative. “There’s a lot of people who would run from it all. I’m not going to run from it. At the end of the day, our staff and the people who led Cleveland, that doesn’t mean those coaches can’t coach or they don’t understand what they’re doing. Maybe that just wasn’t the right fit, the right situation for that group, and they just need to have the right opportunity to have success.”Jackson has coached for six NFL teams and at five colleges. Despite the record and the criticism he has drawn from inside the building since leaving, Jackson said he did his best coaching with the Browns.“I’ve said this before, I think during those times, it was probably some of the best coaching I did contrary to what people think, because you’re always doing anything and everything you can to find a way to win,” Jackson said. “Now, whether it happens or not, that’s not up to me sometimes. Again, I think I learned a lot.”

ENGLEWOOD Womens Bradley Chubb Jersey , Colo. (AP) — Although the schedule gets easier for the Denver Broncos this month, the degree of difficulty in reaching the playoffs keeps going up.The Broncos (6-6) lost leading wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders to a ruptured left Achilles tendon on Wednesday. He was hurt in a non-contact drill at the beginning of practice. The 31-year-old receiver was placed on injured reserve and on Wednesday night he tweeted , “If you know me then you know nothing can keep me down. I’ve overcome too much in life to let this stop me. I’ll be back next year w/ a bigger chip on my shoulder … I PROMISE!”The Broncos quickly claimed wide receiver Andre Holmes off waivers from Buffalo, giving them a seventh-year veteran to go with their four remaining receivers, all of whom made their NFL debuts this season.Sanders, who led the team with 71 catches for 868 yards and four touchdowns in a bounce-back year, was injured on a routine route. He sensed the gravity of the injury as he crumbled to the ground, tearing off his helmet and rolling it away as teammates and trainers rushed toward him.“It didn’t look good,” coach Vance Joseph said, adding Sanders “was sore last week in his heel area and he felt great today.”Sanders’ injury was the latest blow to a team that’s lost seven starters from its opening-day lineup, including six on offense.“It hurt, especially with an Achilles injury, that’s a major injury,” rookie receiver DaeSean Hamilton said. “He was our leader and he was a coach, too, so it was hard to watch.”Sanders’ injury came three days after the Broncos lost star cornerback Chris Harris Jr . to a broken right lower leg, an injury that could sideline him for the rest of the regular season.Sanders crumbled to the grass in an area of the field that has several brown patches and has led to several slips over the last few weeks, notably by rookie receiver Courtland Sutton.Normally, the Broncos flip their two main practice fields from a north-south configuration to east-west at midseason, but they didn’t do that this year. Nor did they rotate individual drills, leaving bare patches in several areas.Asked if he thought field conditions played any role in Sanders’ injury, Joseph said, “I don’t, no. The fields are fine.”Sanders’ injury amplifies odds the Broncos face in their quest to reach the playoffs for the first time in the post-Peyton Manning era. After surviving the league’s most arduous schedule through November, the Broncos’ next three opponents — 49ers, Browns and Raiders — are a combined 9-26-1. They finish the season in Denver against the Chargers, a team they beat last month.“We can’t cry about it,” Joseph said. “We have to move on and go play a football game on Sunday.”Winners of three straight, the Broncos (6-6) visit San Francisco (2-10) this weekend. The Broncos traded top receiver Demaryius Thomas to the Texans on Oct. 30 for financial reasons and to accelerate Sutton’s growth by getting him into the starting lineup opposite Sanders. After flashing in training camp, Sutton has taken his lumps as a rookie. He has 28 receptions — but it’s taken 59 targets — for 558 yards and three touchdowns. Now Womens John Elway Jersey , he’ll face No. 1 cornerbacks beginning with Richard Sherman in San Francisco.“I love it,” Sutton said. “I look forward to it. It’s going to be good.”Sanders developed a rapport with his new quarterback as soon as Case Keenum arrived in March, and the speedy receiver’s leadership only grew in value when Thomas was traded.Sanders helped bring along the young receivers simply by grabbing attention away from them, Keenum said, pointing to a 30-yard TD catch by Sutton in the Broncos’ 24-10 win over the Bengals last weekend.“Sometimes you run routes to get open and sometimes you run routes to get other guys open,” Keenum said. “The touchdown pass, the route may have been designed this past week for (Sanders), but just the way they covered him up allowed Courtland to be 1 on 1 on the outside.”Aside from Holmes, who has 15 touchdowns in 91 career games for the Bills, Cowboys and Raiders, the Broncos’ remaining receivers — Sutton, Hamilton, River Cracraft and Tim Patrick — boast a combined eight NFL starts with 37 catches for 692 yards and four touchdowns.“I have all the trust in the world in those other guys,” Keenum insisted. The Broncos’ best player on offense has been undrafted rookie running back Phillip Lindsay , who was the AFC’s offensive player of the week for his 157-yard, two-TD performance at Cincinnati. To prevent defenses from stacking the box to stop Lindsay, offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave may have to relent and use Lindsay, along with running back Devontae Booker, more in the passing game.“We all know what Phillip can do with the ball in his hands in space,” Keenum said. “So, I think all of those backs — Royce (Freeman), too — they’re doing a great job of continuing to build their craft and not just being guys that run the ball between the tackles.” Owners rejected an alternative to the onside kick, voting down the Broncos’ fourth-and-15 proposal that was endorsed by the Competition Committee, Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports.Denver’s playing proposal would have allowed a team trailing in the fourth quarter an opportunity to maintain possession of the ball after scoring. The trailing team could have opted for one chance per game to convert a fourth-and-15 play from its own 35-yard line. It would have given teams a better chance at keeping the ball than with an onside kick.Owners, though, said no despite the Competition Committee voting 7-1 in favor of the rule change. The Alliance of American Football has a version of the rule that allows a team trailing by 17 or more points at any point in the game or a team trailing by any amount with fewer than five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter the option to try to convert a fourth-and-12 play from its own 28. If the team gains 12 or more yards on that one play, it keeps possession. If it doesn’t, the other team takes possession.

Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott completed 25 of 32 passes for 405 yards and four touchdowns in Week One Womens Bryce Love Jersey , but Washington cornerback Josh Norman was not impressed.Norman, who will face Prescott on Sunday, credited the Cowboys’ offensive line for giving Prescott plenty of time to throw, and said there’s nothing special about playing the way Prescott played when you have time to wait for a receiver to get open.“You stand back there in the pocket all day and go through your first, second and third reads and come back to your first one, OK, cool. Anybody can do that,” Norman told the . “At the end of the day, he’s been playing well. As you can see, he’s evolved. He’s growing in the system. He’s just taking his keys and picking his targets and throwing the ball on time.”Prescott became just the third player in NFL history to record a perfect 158.3 passer rating while throwing more than 30 passes in a game. It’s safe to say not just anybody can do that. ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Case Keenum is on the move again. The Denver Broncos have agreed to trade the veteran quarterback to the Washington Redskins, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Thursday. The teams will also swap 2020 draft picks, with Denver receiving a sixth-rounder and Washington a seventh-rounder, said the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal cannot be announced until next week.Keenum’s contract will be reworked with the Broncos and Redskins each picking up half of the $7 million he was guaranteed in 2019.The Broncos decided to move on from Keenum last month when they agreed to acquire Super Bowl-winning veteran Joe Flacco from the Baltimore Ravens. Like the Keenum trade, the Flacco trade cannot become official until the start of the league year .March 13.For the second consecutive offseason, the Redskins opted to trade for a quarterback. Keenum enters the equation to try to replace 2018 addition Alex Smith , who broke his right tibia and fibula in November and is expected to miss the entire 2019 season.Keenum will likely compete with longtime Redskins backup Colt McCoy to be their Week 1 starter. The 31-year-old joins his fifth NFL team after stints with the Texans, Rams, Vikings and Broncos.A year ago, Keenum was coming off a career year in Minnesota, where he went 11-3 and led the Vikings to the NFC championship game. That made him a hot commodity in free agency https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-terry-mclaurin-jersey , second only to Kirk Cousins among available quarterbacks. After the Vikings signed Cousins, Keenum signed a two-year, $36 million deal with Denver that included $25 million in guarantees.Broncos general manager John Elway hoped he’d finally found a worthy successor to Peyton Manning after failures by Mark Sanchez, Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch. But Keenum also found it difficult to thrive in the quarterback-crazed city where both Elway and Manning continue to cast long shadows. The Broncos went 6-10 last season, leading Elway to fire coach Vance Joseph and hire Vic Fangio. After his career year in Minneapolis, Keenum threw for 18 touchdowns and a career-high 15 interceptions in 2018.Elway said at the NFL combine that he’d prefer for Keenum to rework his deal and stay in Denver as the backup, but he left it up to Keenum, saying he’d honor a release request or would try to trade him if a suitable partner emerged.Keenum got off to a slow start last year, throwing interceptions in Denver’s first eight games. Preaching patience became a weekly mantra of his with Keenum expressing confidence he and his new teammates and coaches would eventually adjust to each other in time to make a late-season run.By December the Broncos weren’t rolling but staggering, bedeviled by an injury epidemic that had waylaid three O-line starters and the team’s top two tight ends. On Dec. 5, Emmanuel Sanders, who rose to No. 1 receiving threat when Demaryius Thomas was traded to Houston, tore an Achilles at practice. The Broncos lost their final four games, finishing 6-10 for their first back-to-back losing seasons since the Nixon Administration. Keenum wasn’t among the players who attended Fangio’s introductory news conference because he was on vacation out of the country. As he cleaned out his locker after the final game, Keenum said, “I learned a lot this year. I learned what it is to be a franchise quarterback.”But Elway would soon move on to his fifth starting QB since Manning retired a month after winning the Super Bowl three years ago.Even before the deal with Washington came together, Keenum seemed to indicate he would be moving on, telling the Sports Spectrum Podcast, “My time with the Broncos has been really special. I have enjoyed every second of it. I have absolutely been so proud to wake up every day and to walk into that building to represent the Broncos as their quarterback. … It was an honor.”

No, the NFL and NFLPA aren’t close on turning the team’s weekly roster from 53 players to 60. It also doesn’t mean the Steelers have received some type of special increase to their roster number compared to other teams. No, this is all about position flexibility. Or position versatility, as Mike Tomlin says. While I can’t speak for the other 31 NFL franchises, the Pittsburgh Steelers put a ton of emphasis on this flexibility. You have seen it predominantly along the offensive line. Players like Chris Hubbard, B.J. Finney and Matt Feiler who are/were all competent at multiple positions along the line. Having this flexibility means the team can keep an extra player or two at another position since they have players who can cover multiple positions in case of an injury. This trend is leaving the offensive line Womens Terrell Edmunds Jersey , and starting to bleed into the Steelers’ defense. Mainly in their defensive backfield. During his post-game press conference after the Steelers’ 17-7 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2 of the NFL Preseason, Mike Tomlin referenced this trend within the organization when talking about both Cameron Sutton and Mike Hilton.“I think the versatility of all the guys. That’s just one snapshot. We’ve been doing similar things on the other side of the football with tackles, for example. Position flexibility has to be an element, particularly you’re talking about adding quality depth. You can turn the 53 men into 60 if you’ve got good position flexibility. And that’s what we strive to have.”Couldn’t have said it any better myself. It points directly to the onus on the flexibility of many members of the team. When looking at a situation with Hilton and Sutton, Hilton’s ability to flex back and play safety could help with the team’s depth at the safety position. Not only is it quality depth, and a player with a genuine knowledge of the defense, but also would allow the team to carry one less pure safety and keep a player like Ulysees Gilbert III, or Tazar Skipper. If you take a step backwards and start to see the projected 53-man roster in this way, you will see the many options the Steelers have at their disposal. You look at players like Sutton Terrell Edmunds Jersey White , Hilton, and all those aforementioned linemen and you can cover a lot of ground without having to keep extra ‘baggage’ on your roster. The question now becomes, is someone like Hilton actually considered quality depth at safety, or just a stop-gap if needed in a pinch? Only time will deliver that answer, but time is running out with only two weeks left in the Preseason for the coaches and players to filter the 91 players down to 53.Stay tuned to BTSC for the latest news and notes surrounding the black-and-gold as they prepare for Week 3 of the Preseason in Tennessee to play the Titans. Derek Carr had ‘planned the next 10-15 years of our life’ with Khalil Mack on Raiders Womens Bo Jackson Jersey , forced to say goodbye to his ‘brother’ Sunday night Khalil Mack will suit up for the Chicago Bears’ season opener against the Packers. That was a difficult sentence to write, and perhaps an even tougher line for Raiders fans to fully wrap their heads around. But no measure of pain from Mack’s departure can measure up to what Raiders quarterback Derek Carr must be feeling from watching his best friend leave. Carr awoke Saturday morning and was blindsided by the news that the Raiders and Bears had reached an agreement to trade Mack. His immediate reaction was summarized in two simple words he tweeted, “no way.” The fourth-year quarterback told the media Monday that nobody in the organization saw the Mack trade coming “from top down.”“That’s my brother,” Carr continued. “The hardest part for me is, obviously, you lose a good football player, but he’s my brother man. That’s one of my best friends. I think that’s the hardest part, is that I don’t get to see my friend every day.”As the Raiders first and second round picks from the 2014 NFL Draft, Carr and Mack shared a close bond throughout their time in Oakland. Both players became the unquestioned leaders of the Silver & Black, combining for six Pro Bowl appearances during the past four years. So when Carr was signed to a five-year, $125 million extension that at the time was the richest in NFL history, Mack rightfully thought he would receive his deal the following year. Instead, Mack found out Saturday he would be traded to Chicago, a move that left him shocked. Just hours later, the Bears made Mack the highest-paid defender in NFL history inking their new defensive end to a monster six-year, $141 million extension with $90 million guaranteed. While Carr is happy for his friend, he would have preferred the extension could have been with the Raiders instead. “When we first came in, we planned the next 10-15 years of our life,” Carr said. “I think that’s the weirdest part, because it’s a little bit of a different chapter now.” NAPA, Calif. (AP)More than three months after the NFL draft, Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Maurice Hurst is still a little bitter about how things played out.Projected to be a sure first-rounder after his final season at Michigan Antonio Brown Raiders Jersey , Hurst wasn’t selected until the fifth round amid questions about his health stemming from a heart condition that also got him sent home from the scouting combine.Although Hurst said he first learned of the issue during his freshman year in college, he was stunned not hearing his name called until the third day of the draft. He’s still not fully over it.”I don’t know if it ever goes away,” Hurst said Friday. ”It’s just something that’s always on your shoulder and something that you always have to carry with you. Just keep it there to push you harder.”The Raiders are counting on Hurst and second-round pick P.J. Hall to improve an interior pass rush that was almost non-existent last season. Both rookies have gotten work in with the starting defense during practices and will get an extensive look when preseason games begin next week.”They don’t want us to be rookies,” Hurst said. ”They want us to come out and play right away and play effectively, and come out and just dominate and do what they expected us to do. Just be a vital part of this defense.”Hurst had 12 sacks in college, five coming as a senior when he was an All-American.With the Raiders, he’ll be part of a rotation up front that includes Hall and veterans Justin Ellis and Mario Edwards. Eddie Vanderdoes, a second-round pick in 2017 who started 13 games as a rookie, is recovering from ACL surgery. To help accelerate his growth, the Raiders have had Hurst play against starting center Rodney Hudson and guards Kelechi Osemele and Gabe Jackson. Hudson and Osemele were Pro Bowl picks last season while Jackson was an alternate in 2016.”They throw a few crumbs every now and then,” Hurst said. ”They don’t want you to beat them every time. But they’ve been extremely helpful.Every day I get to go to work I get to play the best guys in the country. That’s only going to make you better every day.”Hudson said Hurst’s natural instincts have made for a smooth transition.”He’s got a lot of ability,” Hudson said. ”Smart rusher. He’s always attentive and asks questions. He’s got a lot of God-given ability. He’s quick and he uses his hands well to be so young.”Hurst showed all of that during a pass-rush drill Friday. of the double-team effort and used his right hand to knock away one defender’s block attempt. If only finding a place to live was that easy for the Raiders rookie.Hurst admitted getting sticker shock while checking out the housing market in Northern California and joked that he might have to go back to driving for Uber, something he did in college to earn extra money.”It’s ridiculous,” Hurst said. ”Look here, look home, look Michigan. I’m like, `I can get a nice place over there.’ But over here you get a little box. There was one on Craigslist I saw that someone was renting out a closet for $400.”Notes: Jackson was held out of practice for unknown reasons, one day after leaving the workout early. . Left tackle Donald Penn, who has not practiced in camp yet after having offseason foot surgery, appears close to returning. Penn has been working out with a team trainer and got work in on a blocking sled.—

John Elway is notorious for having no Plan B. When the opportunity arose to sign Peyton Manning https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-von-miller-jersey , Elway knew he must go all-in. When the team was embarrassed in Super Bowl XLVIII, he knew he needed to fix his defense. When the team surrendered in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs, he knew he needed a new head coach. All of those decisions led to the Denver Broncos winning Super Bowl 50. As Adam Malnati and I said on the latest MHR Radio Podcast, since Elway screamed, “This one’s for Pat,” it has never been more apparent that Elway has no Plan B that will put this team back on the right course. Given the last three seasons, he has no Plan A either.Fans are right to question whether the Broncos legend has any clue what he’s doing as the current president of football operations and general manager. That is especially true at quarterback, where he’s made repeated epic failures since Manning retired. In that same time period, after Manning, not a single free-agent signing by Elway has paid off. Up until this most recent draft class, Elway has amassed an impressive collection of player busts — not of the statue variety. Elway does share some of the credit for this year’s stellar 2018 draft class with a former head coach who took a role in the front office earlier this year. Speaking of the most recent draft, this was the class to get your franchise quarterback. But there was allegedly only one who caught Elway’s eye: Sam Darnold. That highlights something that doesn’t wash. As a player, Elway never left anything to chance. He made the impossible happen no matter the circumstances. But Elway hasn’t followed that approach with the quarterback position post-Manning. Other than the move he made to acquire Paxton Lynch, Elway has followed a sit-back-and-relax strategy. We watched the New York Jets jump over Elway and the Broncos to get the quarterback Elway was fond of. There were no bold moves. He didn’t do what the franchise needed by acquiring a rookie quarterback who could lead the team into the future. Instead, he pinned his hopes on another trash quarterback who will likely have a short-lived role with the team. Then there’s Elway’s decision to not only hire Vance Joseph https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-phillip-lindsay-jersey , but bring him back for this season. And what about the decision to jettison Wade Phillips in favor of Joe Woods? It would have been easier to list the things Elway has done well since Manning retired. Bringing Gary Kubiak to the front office is about the only thing I can think of, and I’m not sure that was Elway’s decision. There is no doubt the Broncos need to fire Joseph and get his incompetence as far away from the franchise as possible. Might as well give Woods the axe as well. As for who replaces Joseph, go with Tom McMahon, who has coordinated the only functional unit for Denver since training camp. Allow McMahon to do for the Broncos what he’s done for the special teams. Once the season is over, go all-in on hiring Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator John DeFilippo as the next head coach. That’s only the start — Denver needs to contemplate moving on from Elway. There has been talk about moving Kubiak back down to the field to replace Joseph. However, Joseph is merely a symptom of the larger affliction. Joseph didn’t hire himself, bring him back for a second season or make all of these horrible personnel decisions. That rests with Elway. The other aspect to consider in all of this: Will a new head coach, who wants the ability to make personnel/roster decisions, be able to coexist with Elway? There was a time not that long ago where this rank failure would be unacceptable. Moves would be made to correct these constant embarrassments. Since Manning retired, Elway has been given the benefit of the doubt time and time again. That tends to happen when your legendary resume includes a Super Bowl win and playing in two Super Bowls in three seasons — not to mention a Hall-of-Fame playing career. But in a “what have you done for me lately league,” Elway couldn’t lead the Broncos in the right direction with a compass, map and tour guide to assist him. This all reminds me of the “lifetime contract” Mike Shanahan had in Denver. Pat Bowlen still made the tough but necessary decision to move on from the coach who brought the first two Super Bowl wins to his franchise. That’s the bigger issue right now: Mr. B is no longer there to make the tough decisions. There is no leadership at the top. For all intents and purposes, the Broncos are a headless horseman. If Bowlen were around, he would know the move that needs to be made, and he would make it no matter how tough or unpopular it may be. If it needed to happen Phillip Lindsay Jersey White , he would move on from Elway. The MHR Radio Podcast is now on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Acast, Stitcher, TuneIn and a few other podcast hosts. Please subscribe to the one that fits your fancy, and also rate and review what you hear. Paxton Lynch lasted fewer than three seasons with the Denver Broncos despite the team using a first-round pick on him in the 2016 NFL Draft. Now in Seattle, Lynch is getting a chance to face his former team in his first preseason outing with the Seahawks. In reflecting upon his time in Denver and what he feels is different with the Seahawks, Lynch said late last week he believes the atmosphere around the team is more welcoming.“It feels closer, it feels like a family,” Lynch said. “I bring my fiancé out here, I bring my dad out here and they even say it too, they feel so much more welcome around everybody. They’re so good to them, they treat them so good, they treat the players good so Womens Phillip Lindsay Jersey , it feels good, it feels like you’re a part of the family. It feels like everybody’s close.”The Broncos released Lynch at the end of training camp last season and he did not land with another team for the entirety of the 2018 campaign. Lynch said the Washington Redskins wanted to sign him late in the year but he decided to wait it out instead. Certainly having a first-round pick be jettisoned in less than three seasons was a disappointment for both the Broncos and Lynch. However, Broncos G.M. John Elway doesn’t agree with Lynch’s assessment. When asked about Lynch’s comments by 9NEWS, Elway said he believes the Denver culture and atmosphere is just fine.“I don’t know how Seattle runs things,” Elway said, via Nicki Jhabvala of TheAthletic.com. “I’ve never been in their camp, just played against them. But I feel comfortable with where we are as far as being friendly. I will say this:nothing is very friendly, and when he was in Denver he didn’t have a lot of success there. So therefore, I can understand in his mind why it was not a very pleasant stay in Denver. And it’s too bad it happened. I’m glad he’s getting another shot up here, and it’d be nice to see him have some success.”Lynch appeared in just five games for Denver with four starts. He completed 61.7 percent of passes for 792 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions. Lynch remains grateful for the chance the Broncos gave him and knows both parties would have benefited from a different outcome.“I was glad for the opportunity to get into the league, obviously,” Lynch said. “I was very thankful that they drafted me in the first round and gave me the opportunity to play there. Things didn’t work out how I wanted them to and I’m sure how they wanted to as well. I’m kind of glad that I got a fresh start and I know that they’re doing their thing too.”

Free Agent options to replace Reuben Foster | Fanspeak.com KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Orlando Scandrick was on a plane headed home for a last-minute visit with his family when the Kansas City Chiefs played the Atlanta Falcons in their second preseason game last week.He didn’t get to see another shaky performance by their secondary until reporting to his new team. Now the veteran cornerback who spent nearly a decade with the Dallas Cowboys and was recently cut loose by the Washington Redskins will try to help patch it up. The Chiefs signed the 31-year-old Scandrick over the weekend in the hopes he can stabilize one of their biggest areas of need.“I’m just trying to find my way around right now. I’ve only been here a few days Dwayne Haskins Redskins Jersey ,” he said with a smile Monday. “I’m doing a whole lot of listening and not a lot of talking.”Scandrick won’t have a whole lot of time to get up to speed. The Chiefs visit the Chicago Bears this weekend for their third preseason game, then have a quick turnaround before their preseason finale.Their regular-season opener is a mere three weeks away.“After being in the league for 10 years, there’s only so many coverages a team can run, only so many philosophies,” He said. “I’m just trying to learn the terminology right now.”Chiefs general manager Brett Veach has been a bit uncertain of his defensive backfield since the start of training camp, when they had Bashaud Breeland in for an extended visit. But Veach didn’t pull the trigger on a veteran addition until signing Scandrick last week.“You can’t have enough corners, so Brett’s kept his eyes open, brought a couple in,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “This one, he felt comfortable.”Finances were a big part of it — the cash-strapped Chiefs would only owe him $1.5 million for the upcoming season — but so was were injuries and underwhelming performances early in camp. The Chiefs lost Daniel Sorensen for at least the start of the season after the safety broke a bone in his shin. They are also without cornerback Steven Nelson — expected to start opposite new arrival Kendall Fuller — after he sustained a concussion in their preseason opener.A lingering heel injury has forced Eric Berry to the sideline the past couple of weeks, and the trade of Marcus Peters to the Los Angeles Rams this year has made a secondary that struggled last season potentially worse.“The big thing for us is just communicating and being on the same page and at the end of the day, making plays on the ball https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-dwayne-haskins-jersey ,” said Fuller, who arrived in the trade for Alex Smith. “As a DB, the more plays on the ball that you make, the better the opportunity you give your team to win.”The Chiefs hope Scandrick can help make some of those plays. They hope Berry can, too.The perennial Pro Bowl safety missed almost all of last season with a torn Achilles tendon, but he appeared ahead of schedule in his recovery when he participated in the offseason program. Berry also was on the practice fields of Missouri Western State University for the start of training camp, which Chiefs fans took as a good omen for the upcoming season. Then he began sitting out practices with a heel injury. And so far, the injury has caused Berry to miss enough time that many are wondering whether there is something more serious afoot.“I just don’t want to go backward. That’s what I don’t want to do,” Reid said between Monday’s morning walk-through and an afternoon practice. “I’m OK with it. He’s far enough long. … I just have to monitor it and see where he’s at. I’m comfortable where he’s going with this thing.”Notes: DL Allen Bailey (knee strain) and OG Laurent Duvernay-Tardiff (concussion) joined Nelson and Berry in sitting out Monday’s practice. … RB Charcandrick West participated in some of the workout for the first time in several weeks after dealing with a concussion. “He feels good. The docs say he’s OK,” Reid said. “We’re in pads today, be helpful to see him move around.”
