ARLINGTON, Texas -- Two big swings from Adrian Beltre helped the Texas Rangers snap out of their offensive funk. The All-Star slugger went deep twice and the Rangers used a four-run seventh inning to beat the Seattle Mariners 5-4 on Thursday night. Texas hadnt scored more than four runs in the last six games and was outscored 13-4 in losing the first two of the series against the Mariners. Beltre hit a solo shot in the second and another in the seventh for his 24th career multihomer game. He finished with three hits and two RBIs. "I think the last couple of days we havent been able to get the big hit," he said. "Obviously, thats what youre looking for when you hit in the middle of the lineup. Today was a better day, even though it was late." With Texas trailing 3-1, Beltre led off the seventh with a drive to centre against Hisashi Iwakuma (7-4). A.J. Pierzynski then singled and Lance Berkman walked before Mitch Moreland bounced a tying single up the middle against Charlie Furbush. Elvis Andrus came up with a go-ahead sacrifice fly and Ian Kinsler capped the big inning with an RBI single. Texas manager Ron Washington said before the game that he hoped his team would improve with runners in scoring position. He eventually got his wish. "Thats exciting when you can run the bases," Washington said. Josh Lindblom (1-2) recorded the final two outs of the seventh to pick up his first win since Aug. 31. Raul Ibanez homered for the Mariners, belting a tiebreaking two-run shot in the seventh. It was his 12th homer in his last 28 games, lifting the total for the 41-year-old slugger to 21 for the year. Iwakuma, who came in leading the AL in ERA, allowed four runs and five hits in six innings. The Japanese right-hander is 0-3 with a 5.54 ERA in his last four starts. Ibanez went 4 for 5 with three RBIs and Kyle Seager added three hits for the Mariners, who were trying for their first series sweep at Texas since 2002. The Mariners had 14 hits, but went 1 for 12 with runners in scoring position and left 13 on base. "Weve got to do better with guys on base," said Ibanez, who had his first four-hit game since June 8, 2010. "This is a place where you feel no lead is safe. When youre playing against them, you know they are going to score runs." Ibanez hit an RBI single off Tanner Scheppers in the eighth to get Seattle within one, but Joe Nathan pitched a scoreless ninth for his 28th save in 29 chances. Beltre led off the second with his first home run since June 9. "(Beltre) shows up every day and he not only comes to do his job, he comes to beat the opponent," Washington said. "He battles every single day and he makes everyone around him better." The Mariners tied it with an unearned run in the sixth. Seager and Justin Smoak singled leading off the inning, and Seager scored on a throwing error by second baseman Kinsler, snapping Martin Perezs scoreless stretch at 16 2-3 innings. Perez allowed an unearned run in 5 1-3 innings. The 22-year-old rookie gave up eight hits, struck out four and walked two in his fourth start of the season. NOTES: Andrus was dropped to the eighth spot in the lineup. The All-Star shortstop is batting .196 since June 1. "Im still in the lineup and Ill do my best to help the team win," Andrus said. . "I know I did nothing wrong. Im sure thisll be resolved fairly," Miller tweeted, acknowledging he had seen the reports and adding he was disappointed the Broncos have to open training camp with this news hanging over them. ESPN first reported the pending discipline for Miller. A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the possible penalty to The Associated Press. The person did not want to be named because the league hasnt announced any punishment. Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth said the team would not comment on the penalty, which could be overturned by an appeal. Miller and his agent didnt return messages left by AP. The Broncos report to training camp Wednesday with big expectations but a growing number of off-the-field distractions, as well. Shortly after last seasons 13-3 campaign ended with a loss to Baltimore in the divisional playoffs, none other than Miller guaranteed a Super Bowl title for Denver for the 2013 season. "I wasnt being arrogant or cocky when I made the guarantee. It was something bigger than myself," Miller said in May in explaining the comment. He said he dedicated the upcoming season to his 6-year-old cousin who was injured in an auto accident last winter. Then, just last week, left tackle Ryan Clady signed a new contract and, during interviews to discuss the deal, said it was, "Super Bowl or bust, for the most part" for Denver. Its the kkind of talk, at least in public, that Peyton Manning and coach John Fox disdain.dddddddddddd It is, however, in line with what Las Vegas says (At odds ranging between 9-2 and 6-1, the Broncos are widely listed as the favourites to win the Super Bowl) as well as the roster Executive Vice-President John Elway has assembled. He added Wes Welker to Mannings receiving corps, shored up the line with free agent guard Louis Vasquez and used a second-round draft pick to add Wisconsin running back Montee Ball to the mix, as well. But not all the off-season news has been positive for the Broncos. Elways top two assistants, Matt Russell and Tom Heckert, are each serving suspensions after arrests on drunken driving charges -- an embarrassing run of news that deprives the Broncos of their top personnel men at a time when personnel decisions are paramount. The other bit of bad news for Denver this off-season was its inability to keep pass-rushing defensive lineman Elvis Dumervil because of a mix-up with a fax machine that kept the team from receiving his signed contract in time. The Broncos felt good about replacing Dumervil and his 11 sacks last season, but in large part, the comfort came because they had Miller, who has 30 sacks over his first two NFL seasons, lining up on the other side. Without Miller, the Broncos defence would be missing its best pass rusher for its first four games -- against Baltimore, the New York Giants, Oakland and Philadelphia. If suspended, Miller would be able to participate in all of the workouts at training camp but would have to leave the team after its final preseason game on Aug. 29. ' ' '
