PORTLAND, Ore. -- The matchup between the Chicago Bulls and Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night at the Moda Center features a duel between two of the better shooting guards in the NBA.Chicagos Jimmy Butler collected 37 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and three steals Saturday in a 116-105 win over the Washington Wizards.Portlands CJ McCollum scored 21 points to help the Trail Blazers defeat Denver 112-105 at home Sunday night.Butler is the first Bull to reach those figures since Scottie Pippen had 37, eight and eight in December 1995. The 2016 U.S. Olympian, who is averaging 24.3 points, is the first Bull who has scored at least 20 points with three steals in four straight games since Pippen (1994-95).I cant express how much easier it makes it on everyone else having someone like that on both sides of the floor, Chicago center Robin Lopez said.Over the past four games, Butler is averaging 29 points, seven rebounds, 5.3 rebounds and four steals and is a collective 42 for 46 at the line. Were putting the ball in his hands bringing the ball down the floor a lot more than we did a year ago, second-year Bulls coach Fred Holberg said. Last year, wed bring him off action to get him to the top of the floor. Now hes bringing it down and going to work. We want the ball in Jimmys hands because of his ability to draw contact.Butler is providing more vocal leadership, too, than ever before for the Bulls (6-4).The thing I love about him is how he has continued to talk and been a great leader with his voice this year, Holberg said.Said Butler: Its going to have to be me to lead the charge when it comes to coming out with the right energy, making sure were doing everything were supposed to do at both ends. Im definitely capable of doing that.McCollum also is on a scoring tear of late, with three 30-plus-point games in his past five games for the Blazers (7-4).CJ seems to have found his rhythm, Portland coach Terry Stotts said of the 2015-16 NBA Most Improved Player Award recipient. I go back to when everybody was so concerned about him in preseason. He has showed he is picking up where he left off last year. That was a breakout season for McCollum in his first year as a starter. He averaged 20.8 points while shooting 44.8 percent from the field, 41.7 percent from 3-point range and 82.7 percent from the free-throw line.So far this season, McCollum is boasting better numbers across the board -- a 22.1-point average while shooting 47.2 percent from the field, 43.1 percent on 3-point attempts and 85.7 percent from the line. He is also averaging 4.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists as a combo guard, since Stotts is employing him at the point when Damian Lillard is out of the game.I just want to do whatever it takes to get on the court, McCollum said. When Im playing alongside Dame, I get a lot of opportunities off the ball, a lot of shots in the flow of the offense. When I play (as point guard) with the second unit, Im trying to make the right decisions on the pick-and-roll, and when Dame comes back in, to get him off the ball some as well, because hes a unique scorer. After opening against Florida State at a neutral site (Orlando, Florida) and then playing four consecutive home games, Ole Miss comes out of its bye week to venture into an opponents lair for the first time this season. The first of two consecutive road games comes up Saturday when the 12th-ranked Rebels (3-2, 1-1) play No. 22 Arkansas (4-2, 0-2) at 7 p.m. ET in Donald G. Reynolds Stadium in Fayetteville (ESPN). Next week the Rebels go to LSU.Ole Miss will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak to the Razorbacks, who are coming off a 49-30 loss at home to top-ranked Alabama and need a win to build some momentum before heading to Auburn the following week. The Hogs won 30-0 in Fayetteville two years ago and 53-52 in overtime last year in Oxford. Two totally different games really, Ole Miss coach Huge Freeze said. The first one was in November in Fayetteville. The weather was awful and we were disappointed after a Laquon Treadwell injury that kind of knocked us out of things.I didnt do a good job getting our team ready to play. Offensively, we were atrocious that night up there.Last year was a shootout. We couldnt stop them and they couldnt stop us. I thought we won the game a couple times, obviously, but they made a miraculous play on the fourth down. We stopped them on the two-point play and then we had a penalty and they converted. That game could have been won or lost a lot of different times, but we certainly struggled to stop them.Ole Miss wont have Treadwell around this time either, but quarterback Chad Kelly will be back. He passed for 368 yards and rushed for 110 last year against the Hogs. He is averaging just over 319 yards a game passing this year and rushing for just under 25 a game.Arkansas will be without quarterback Brandon Allen, who passed for 442 yards against the Rebels in 2015, but his younger brother Austin has picked up pretty much where big brother left off.I feel like I am watching the same guy, Freeze said.Allen has comppleted 63.dddddddddddd6 percent of his passed for an average of 272 yards a game. The Hogs also have a 100-yard rusher in Rawleigh Williams III, who has 605 yards in six games.Thats more of a concern for the Rebels than the results of the last two meetings, Freeze said.If that is what my focus is on Hey we got to get ready to beat them because they beat us last year, I dont really buy into that, Freeze said. I buy into, Heres the plan that gives us the best chance to succeed and now weve got to make sure we understand and can efficiently do it. That will be our focus. The Hogs, though, may have to deal with the effect of having lost two of their last three games, both to SEC West rivals. Texas A&M won 45-24 on the last Saturday in September.Coach Bret Bielema said he doesnt expect a problem.I think to the outside world, thats probably a very easy question to ask, but if youre in the locker room with our guys, its something never that never really comes up, Bielema said. They play very, very hard. Theyre locked in.They understand -- they had high expectations, and when you lose, youre going to have a high feeling of disappointment, so thats a good thing. But we definitely dont have time to sit around and feel sorry for ourselves. With the 0-2 start in the SEC West, however, and Alabama and A&M sitting with no losses and Ole Miss with just one in league play, its apparent that the Razorbacks dreams of an SEC championship are all but over.Obviously, to win the SEC West after an 0-2 start, were going to need help along the way Bielema said after the loss to Alabama.Bielema doesnt see that having much of an impact on the Hogs approach either. Were a 4-2 team that lost to the No. 1 team in the country and did enough things to make that happen, he said. But weve got to correct the negatives for us to move forward on positives. ' ' '
