PHILADELPHIA -- As?Temple?kicks off its football season, the schools drive for a 35,000-seat stadium appears to be stalled.Facing intense community opposition, skeptical legislators and a summer leadership crisis that forced Temples provost and president to step down, the school has no clear timeline to bring a proposal to City Hall. The Owls have paid rent since 2003 to play 6 miles away at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the?Philadelphia Eagles.?To build its own campus facility, Temple needs legislation passed by City Council -- but a spokeswoman for Darrell Clarke, who represents the universitys North Philadelphia district, says first there must be a rigorous and respectful community engagement process. As of now, and as far as Council President Clarke is concerned, there is no stadium proposal for Council to consider, Clarkes spokeswoman Jane Roh said Friday. The $126 million plan has generated controversy since February, when Temples board of trustees approved a feasibility study, hired architects and tore down apartments on university land near campus.Neighbors worry that traffic and parking shortages could jam streets with drunk tailgaters. Temple wants to build across the street from an elementary school, a home for the elderly, and dozens of rowhomes. Why do you need a stadium in the middle of a residential area? said resident Karen Sisco. When school is in session and they decide to have a game on Friday night, you have the rigmarole, the students who get drunk and forget that it is a community and have bad behavior. But supporters say the stadium will make the campus -- historically a commuter school -- a tighter-knit community. The school serves more than 34,000 full-time students. You see every other southern school or out west -- thats everything they are, is football. Thats how you grow a university, said Tyler Baldo, a junior advertising major from Delaware. The university says rent at Lincoln Financial Field will triple from $1 million per year to $3 million starting 2018. So, by building its own facility -- financed through donations, loans and grants -- Temple wont have to pay rent. Officials say tuition will not be affected. It makes financial sense, university spokesman Ray Betzner said. That $3 million can be used to support the educational mission of the university. The Owls have seen a rebirth after decades as one of the worst programs in college football. They went 9-4 in 2009, their best record since 1979. Last season, they took off under coach Matt Rhule, including beating rival Penn State for the first time in 74 years in front of nearly 70,000 fans.Ive been at Temple since `02 -- I can give a really good lecture, but Im never going to get 69,000 people to come to it, said Scott Gratson, associate professor of communications. How the campus grew together, came together, over that event, was absolutely spectacular. When talk of a new stadium began, pushback was immediate. The Stadium Stompers, a group of student and community activists, capped off a series of protests earlier this year by presenting Temples then-president, Neil Theobald, with an award for Best Gentrifier.Temple occupies a large swath of impoverished North Philadelphia, and the largely black population has long been concerned about being shoved out by rising rents and an expanding university footprint. The student population living near campus has more than doubled in the past decade, and a May report by the Pew Charitable Trusts found that median home sale prices near the proposed stadium site have spiked tenfold in 13 years, from $11,250 to $140,000.Temple has tried to soothe concerns by stressing the potential benefits of a stadium, including new jobs and retail outlets. But residents remain unconvinced. The Stompers are planning more protests, with ideas ranging from blocking the homecoming parade to sculpting and stomping a mini-stadium.For now, Temple is conducting a $1.25 million traffic study. The university and the board was effectively going through due diligence -- a feasibility review of the project, and that hasnt changed, said Kevin Feeley, spokesman for Temples board of trustees. We are still doing our due diligence. Chaussure Yeezy Boost Pas Cher . After a first half in which he thought "the lid was on the basket," the Toronto Raptors coach watched his squad mount a second half surge to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 98-91. Giambi belted a two-run, pinch-hit homer with two outs in the ninth inning to give Cleveland a shocking 5-4 win over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night, keeping the Indians up with the lead pack in the AL wild-card race. http://www.pascheradidasyeezy.fr/ . The head of USA Boxing came out swinging Tuesday with an open letter to Tyson -- a former Olympic hopeful himself -- that accuses the former heavyweight champion of trying to poach fighters who might be candidates for the U. Des Hasler warns Canterburys top-four hopes face extinction unless they can counter the brilliance of Johnathan Thurston. The Bulldogs face the premiers at Belmore Sports Ground on Thursday night in a clash that looks set to decide who snares fourth place.Still stinging from their last encounter five weeks ago, when Thurston produced a masterclass to put the Bulldogs to the sword 36-0, Hasler admits his side havent been up to scratch since. In that game, Thurston did what he does best - turn the screws. After forcing five first-half line dropouts, he didnt give the Dogs an inch and suffocated them out of the game. Its well documented how important (Thurston) is to that Cowboys side but, gee, hes got some good helpers around him now, Hasler said. You need to be on your game for 80 minutes against a side like the Cowboys and, for the last month, we havent been on our game. And therein lies the quandary of the Bulldogs for the last month and a bit. While fourth and seemingly neck deep in the title hunt, theyve failed to impress, with the whips cracking after some fundamental lapses in ball control - something theyve done so well all year.Hasler admits their completion rate makes for dry reading but it goes to the heart off why theyre not setting the world on fire when they should be building.ddddddddddddAll year, theyve completed at 77 per cent but, in last weeks loss to Brisbane, they managed just 29 of 44 sets - 65 per cent. The data and the stats can be quite boring but, at the same time, they can be quite poignant, Hasler said.We completed 11 out of 20 in that second half and, against a side like the Broncos, theyre some of the sides were going to be coming up against over the next couple of weeks. You cant do it - we just have to get our heads around it.The Bulldogs will be without prop Sam Kasiano after electing not to fight his dangerous-contact charge for a kick to Corey Parkers head. The Cowboys pack will be boosted with Queensland and Australian front-rower Matt Scott back from a back injury.STATS THAT MATTER:* Canterbury have won three of the past four, and seven of their past nine matches* Canterbury return to their traditional home ground in what will be their 553rd match at Belmore* The Cowboys have won 10 of 11 matches at home this season but just three of 11 awaySource: Fox Sports Stats China NFL Jerseys Cheap Nike NFL Jerseys NFL Jerseys Cheap Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap Basketball Jerseys Online Stitched Hockey Jerseys Wholesale Baseball Jerseys Football Jerseys Outlet College Jerseys For Sale Cheap MLB Jerseys Wholesale Soccer Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys For Sale Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '
