Sky Scholars Olivia Breen and Jessica Judd will look back on the weekend with mixed emotions after experiencing the highs and lows of competition early in the summer. Breen, gunning for her second Paralympics, has recently returned from a training camp in Tenerife and has been recovering from a frustrating toe injury. The 19-year-old multi-eventer was in action in Watford, Hertfordshire for a county competition and while she impressed in the long jump, she struggled with the gruelling one lap in warm conditions.I had a mixed day, the Sky Academy Sports Scholar said. I am really happy with my long jump as I equalled my PB of 4.28m in my first competition.I jumped a big jump in the second round but I was just over the board. I know it would have been a big PB so thats encouraging and I know what I need to work on. We felt it was a really positive competition. My 400m event was not so good. I dont know if the long jump competition increased my fatigue or whether I still had last weeks event in my legs. When you have cerebral palsy, the lactic acid tends to kick in earlier. I felt mine kick in at the 250m mark and I really struggled around the last part of the race. It was hideous! We now need to make a decision about whether I continue training for the 400m as Rio approaches or concentrate on my other events. Jessica Judd has been preparing for the track season with a tough winter cross country campaign Fresh from her mountain conquering in the United States, Jessica Judd began her outdoor campaign in fine style at the British Milers Club Grand Prix at SportCity in Manchester. It was a day of top quality running with World and European medallist Jenny Meadows storming to victory in the 800m in a time of 2 mins 1.23 seconds - a mark under the Rio Olympic standard.Next up was the 1500m and Judd produced a stunning performance and only just missed on top spot behind winner Sarah McDonald by 1.6 seconds with a time of 4:12.45, five seconds off the Olympic qualifying mark.Judd described her efforts as a good start to the season. The weekend went really well, she said. I managed to come second so that was a pretty good time off of a slow first 800! Not a bad opener but hoping to get quicker in two weeks time but all I can do is wait and see.The 21-year-old from Essex had endured a lively build-up after an accident in the kitchen 48 hours before racing. She tweeted on Thursday: Today is not going well, cut half my thumb off with a breadknife and had to safety pin my skirt hem after the stitches fell out. It was a nightmare.BMX star Quillan Isidore was also competing, getting stuck into the National Series in sunny Scotland where he picked up a fourth and a second spot.I put together some consistent laps with good starts, the 19-year-old Londoner said. Thats always my aim for any race. It was good fun racing under the sun with a great atmosphere! I always love racing nationals!WHATS COMING UP FOR OUR SCHOLARS17 - 20 MAY: Siobhan-Marie OConnor, Swimming European Championships19 - 27 MAY: Savannah Marshall, World Championships in Kazakhstan Also See: About the Scholarship Meet the athletes Blogs Videos Galleries Hydro Flask Standard Mouth Water Bottle . BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- When Indiana athletic director Fred Glass woke up Thursday morning, he knew the Hoosiers football program would be turned upside down.By nightfall, Glass had collected Kevin Wilsons resignation, Tom Allens agreement to take over as head coach and was trying to swat away questions about whether Wilson was leaving because of player mistreatment. It was one of the strangest days in program history. Less than a week after becoming bowl-eligible for the second straight season, Wilson was out of a job because of what Glass described as philosophical differences.I thought the core of what we talked about boiled down to leadership and how you are a leader, Glass said. I think Kevin and I have some honest disagreements about how you go about that. Im not saying Im right and hes wrong. I think we concluded, maturely and appropriately, its time to go our separate ways.During a hastily arranged evening news conference, Glass never explained in detail how their approaches differed. He was, however, peppered with questions about whether his decision was linked to reports about medical complaints from players during Wilsons tenure. Each time, Glass downplayed the significance of the reports, though he did acknowledge athletic department officials hired an Indianapolis law firm to look into claims by some former players. The results, Glass said, showed Wilsons players were treated properly. The reason I can speak so confidently that we dont have any medical issues and that our medical care has been so robust is that the outside group found that to be the case, he said.Glass even cited the example of Wilsons own son, who has had concussions, to explain why Wilson was exceedingly cautious with head injuries.Backup quarterback Zander Diamont also came to Wilsons defense.Following Saturdays bowl-clinching victory over Purdue, Diamont announced he would not return next season because he could graduate this summer and had a history of head injuries. At the time, Wilson acknowledged he was surprised by Diamonts decision and had checked with Diamont to see if he may change his mind.I have no knowledge of my announcement last weekend having anything to do with Coach Wilson being fired. I certainly hope thats not the case, Diamont wrote on Twitter after word leaked of the impending change. Coach Wilson and IU football followed concussion protocol to the letter. Coach Wilson was completely supportive during my recovery and didnt want me back on the field until I was completely recovered and, beyond that, felt that I was 150%.Neither Wilson nor his agent responded to messages seeking comment. Glass also said no potential NCAA violations were involved.Wilson departs less than 10 months after agreeing to a six-year contract extension worth $15.3 million. Glass said Indiana is only on the hook for next years base salary, $542,000.Wilson went 26-47 in six seasons and was Indianas longest-teenured coach since Bill Mallory, the schools career leader in wins, left after the 1996 season.dddddddddddd. Wilsons teams had shown steady improvement over the years, earning their first back-to-back bowl bids in 25 years while tying the school record for most consecutive wins (four) against rival Purdue.Allens promotion from associate head coach and defensive coordinator takes effect immediately, avoiding a coaching search as Indiana (6-6, 4-5 Big Ten) waits to find out which bowl game it will play in. He agreed to a six-year deal. Glass said the financial details still have to be worked out but promised the payout would put him at a competitive scale in the Big Ten.Its hard to believe, Allen said. This day has been an absolute whirlwind.Wilson was an offensive assistant at Oklahoma from 2002-10, working with Bob Stoops to create some of the most explosive offenses in college football. He and the Sooners went to 10 consecutive bowls, including three national championship games, and the 2008 offense under his guidance set NCAA records by scoring at least 60 points in five straight games and 716 total points. He was considered a red-hot hire, brought in to replace Bill Lynch, and he didnt disappoint. Hs aggressive, wide-open offense injected excitement into a floundering program that was losing fans.Over his first three seasons, things did not go smoothly. But by Wilsons fourth season, there were signs of progress and he backed it up with consecutive six-win seasons in which the Hoosiers became increasingly competitive against the likes of Ohio State and Michigan.Transitions in this profession are hard under any circumstances, let alone this. My heart breaks for him, Allen said. I never expected this to happen.Allen returned to his home state last offseason and presided over one of the nations biggest defensive turnarounds .Before coming to Bloomington, Allen was the defensive coordinator at South Florida and served as a defensive assistant at Ole Miss, Arkansas State, Drake, Lambuth and Wabash. His only previous head coaching experience came from 2004-06 at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis.Player mistreatment allegations have cropped up elsewhere in recent years.Illinois fired coach Tim Beckman a week before the 2015 season following allegations that he mistreated players, interfered in player medical decisions and pressured players to play hurt. A law firm hired by the school to investigate said it found evidence of both interference in medical decisions and pressure on players to play through injuries. Beckman denied any wrongdoing and was paid $250,000 as part of a settlement with the university.---AP Sports Writer David Mercer contributed to this report.---More AP college football: www.collegefootball.ap.org and https://twitter.com/AP-Top25 Cheap Throwback Baseball Detroit Tigers Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Colorado Rockies Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Houston Astros Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Kansas City Royals Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Los Angeles Angels Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Los Angeles Dodgers Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Miami Marlins Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Milwaukee Brewers Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Minnesota Twins Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball New York Mets Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball New York Yankees Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Oakland Athletics Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Philadelphia Phillies Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Pittsburgh Pirates Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball San Diego Padres Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball San Francisco Giants Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Seattle Mariners Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball St. Louis Cardinals Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Tampa Bay Rays Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Texas Rangers Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Toronto Blue Jays Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Washington Nationals Jerseys ' ' '
