KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Prosecutors charged Western Michigan basketball player Joeviair Kennedy with murder and armed robbery Monday, accusing him of gunning down a fellow student during a robbery of a cellphone and money.Kennedy, 20, was arraigned Monday in the shooting of 19-year-old Jacob Jones at an off-campus Kalamazoo apartment on Thursday. Kennedy, who is from Muskegon, was denied bond and did not yet have an attorney.Kennedy is charged with murder, armed robbery and using a gun during a felony. The charging document says others were present. An uncle, Lucious Kennedy, told WWMT-TV at the courthouse: I dont know who did it but I feel bad for the family. This aint my nephew. On Friday, WMU athletic director Kathy Beauregard said an athlete had been suspended after being identified by police as a person of interest in the shooting. She didnt identify the athlete or the sport the student participated in.Kennedy, who has appeared in eight games for the Broncos this season, was not on the roster for Saturdays home game against James Madison. The school would not confirm that Kennedy was the athlete identified by police, but coach Steve Hawkins spoke a bit in general terms about the situation after the game. Its a devastating loss for our university. Its a devastating tragedy for everybody involved, Hawkins said Saturday. Lives were changed forever, and so, were very, very respectful of that. Were very shook by the whole thing. Now, its up to us to try and -- as you always do, trying to mentor young people -- you just try and pick up the pieces and move forward. Theres a lot not known. So thats where were at.Kennedy signed a letter of intent in 2015 to play for WMU. After redshirting in 2015-16, he was averaging 7.4 minutes a game this season. The Kalamazoo area has had to deal with several tragic events this year, including the random fatal shootings of six people and wounding of two others in February. In June, five bicyclists were killed in a road crash in Kalamazoo Countys Cooper Township.P.J. Fleck, the coach of WMUs undefeated football team, said earlier this month he hoped his team had been able to provide some energy and hope for the area. Vincent Edwards Jersey . "It was nerve-wracking, but we pulled through," said Collaros, who threw four touchdown passes to lead the Toronto Argonauts (8-4) to a 33-27 win over the Calgary Stampeders (9-3) in front of 28,781 fans at McMahon Stadium. Andrew Wiggins made 10-of-12 from the foul line and scored 17 for Kansas (14-4, 5-0 Big 12), which capped a stretch of four straight games against ranked opponents unscathed. Lonnie Walker Jersey . -- Linebacker Myles Jack ran for four touchdowns, defensive end Cassius Marsh caught a scoring pass, and No. The seam-up variationAsela Gunaratne is nominally a medium-pacer, but showed hes an unusual member of the species on his ODI debut. He ran in like a medium-pacer, went through his delivery stride like a medium-pacer, but gripped the ball and released it like an offspinner. Having taken two wickets with his offcutter, he was now bowling to Zimbabwes No. 11, Tinashe Panyangara, who had slogged him with the turn for a boundary through midwicket in his previous over. Now came the change-up. Ordinarily, medium-pacers bowl their stock ball with the seam upright, and use the cutters as a variation. Gunaratne flipped it around. Out came a seam-up ball, swinging away just a hint. Like R Ashwins arm ball, but quicker. Panyangara slogged across the line again, but this time only managed a top-edge that ballooned to the fielder at cover. The no-ballZimbabwe were only defending 154, and Panyangara, coming back to the side after a spell out injured, bowled a beauty first up with the new ball. It pitched just back of a length, and curved away from close to off stump, leaving Dhananjaya de Silva feeling uncertainly for the ball and nicking to the keeper. It was the perfect start. Almost. Zimbabwes players aborted their celebrations almost as soon as they began them, seeing the umpires arm shoot out to his side, signaling no-ball. Panyangara had overstepped. De Silva went on to make an unbeaten 78.The grabZimbabwes new-ball bowlers had begun errattically, dropping the ball far too short, far too often, and Kusal Perera and de Silva had pulled Donald Tiripano and Panyangara for three fours in the space of five balls spread across the eighth and ninth overs of Sri Lankas innings.dddddddddddd Chamu Chibhabha came on to bowl the 11th over, and dropped short with just his second ball. Pereras eyes lit up, and he swiveled through another pull. This time, though, he sliced underneath it a little, and though he had middled it, he had hit it in the air. It still left the man at deep square leg a fair amount of yardage to cover, but Zimbabwe had their best fielder there, Sikandar Raza. He sprinted quickly to his left, and completed the catch with an athletic tumble.Drop, deflect, overthrowIn the 13th over of Zimbabwes innings, Chamu Chibhabha spotted de Silva stepping out of his crease and shifted his line wide of off stump. De Silva went for a flat-bat drive, met it well, but hit it straight back at the bowler, a foot or so to his left. Chibhabha reached out, got his palms to the ball, but couldnt hold on to the catch, ending up deflecting the ball towards the man at short extra-cover instead. Graeme Cremer picked up the ball, saw de Silva moving back towards his crease, and fired a throw at the stumps. He missed, and ended up conceding two overthrows.
