SEATTLE -- Jimmy Grahams statement about his most productive game since suffering a major knee injury was left to what he did on the field, all of it coming in one impressive half on Sunday.Hes a phenomenal athlete and its going to be cool to see him develop more so in our offense this year, Seattle tight end Luke Willson said.Less than a year after suffering a torn patellar tendon in his right knee, Graham was back to being a focal point for Seattle. He finished with six catches for 100 yards and just his third touchdown catch with the Seahawks in a 37-18 romp of the San Francisco 49ers .All of his catches came in the first half as Seattle built a 24-3 lead and rolled to a fifth straight regular-season win over the 49ers.After the game, Graham shared smiles and a handshake with team owner Paul Allen in the Seahawks locker room, then disappeared down a hallway and didnt poke his head back into the locker room again. He wanted to have this kind of impact in the game, Seattle coach Pete Carroll said. He looked great. Its thrilling to see him.Graham was not supposed to be back by now. Being back on the field in 9+ months is not the typical timeline of an injury as severe as the one he suffered last November against Pittsburgh and just as he was beginning to find a more prominent role in Seattles offense.Carroll continued to say through the offseason that Graham was on pace to be ready for the season opener and he proved correct when Graham took the field in Week 1 against Miami. But getting back on the field and being the threat Graham was in the past are two separate matters. And the latter is what Graham showed against the 49ers.His 18-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter came on a broken play when Russell Wilson scrambled left and found Graham coming open in the middle of the field. But his two most important catches both came in third-down situations.Seattle was facing third-and-15 on its second possession. Wilson threw a strike down the middle and Graham was able to hold on to an 18-yard catch despite a crunching hit from safety Eric Reid. Graham caught a 12-yard pass later in the drive to set up Christine Michaels second TD run of the game. But the catch everyone was talking about was Grahams 40-yard jump-ball reception where he wrestled the ball out of Reids arms as he came down.It was a free play because the 49ers had jumped offside, but Wilson gave Graham the chance to use his athleticism and size to make the catch. He also showed a trust in Graham that was always being worked on last season.Hes like 6-(foot)-9. Just throw it up to him, Wilson joked. You look down the field just trying to find somebody and there is this big guy running down the field and just tried to give him a chance.Graham was once the primary target of a pass-happy offense as he was during his time in New Orleans. Thats not how it works in Seattle, even with Marshawn Lynch gone and Wilson having shown he can run more of a pass-based offense. What he showed against the 49ers was still having the ability to make defenses account for his presence on the field.Jimmy has done an excellent job of being patient. Sometimes it can be frustrating because he came from an offense where he was seeing all these targets and thats just not the way that we do it here, Seattle wide receiver Doug Baldwin said. But hes been patient and hes bought in with the fact that were more about controlling the game with the ground game and making the best of our opportunities when we get the targets. ... Hes fully bought into the fact that this is how we play football.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and AP NFL Twitter feed: https://twitter.com/AP-NFLAuthentic San Francisco 49ers Jerseys . NEW ORLEANS -- Saints receiver Michael Thomas was having a charmed rookie season until he ran up against the top-rated pass defense in the NFL.His two fumbles and bobble-turned-interception were among the most glaring mishaps that undermined the Saints bid to break .500 for the first time since the end of the 2013 season.Thomas apparently was in no mood to discuss his worst day as a pro following New Orleans 25-23 loss to the defending champion Denver Broncos. He was nowhere to be found in the locker room, so his teammates and coach spoke for him. Some lessons in our league are learned the hard way, coach Sean Payton said. You hope that ball security is not one of them, but it doesnt just happen to rookies either. Weve got to get that corrected.Added offensive tackle and locker room leader Zach Strief, Guys make mistakes. Mike will come back. Weve got a lot of faith in Mike. He knows that cant happen.Nothing heading into Sunday pointed to Thomas careening into a turnover-laden performance. Entering Sunday, he led all NFL rookies in catches (47), receiving yards (573) and touchdown receptions (5).A week ago, in a win over San Francisco, his two touchdowns were tough, critical catches the helped New Orleans get back to .500. His second TD was an acrobatic grab after he tipped the ball to himself over the back of a defender.Against Denver, he caught four passes for 40 yards, but his key plays resulted in turnovers.I know hes going to be stronger for this, New Orleans receiver Willie Snead said. I know hes going to get over it and ccome back Thursday (against Carolina) and be ready to go.dddddddddddd.On the first play of the second quarter, Drew Brees threw to Thomas, who got his hands on the ball only to have it pop from his grasp and straight to Denver safety Darian Stewart. Denver converted a 50-yard field goal for a 10-0 lead on the ensuing series. Its the two fumbles, though, that Thomas might have a tough time overcoming. The first came early in the fourth quarter with the Saints leading 17-10 and in possession after a missed Denver field goal. The fumble, forced by Bradley Roby, turned into a tying touchdown when Trevor Siemian passed to Demaryius Thomas from 2 yards. Then, after the Saints defense held Denver to a 28-yard Brandon McManus field goal, Thomas fumbled again when he was leveled by defensive end Jared Cricks crushing blind-side hit . The Broncos took over at New Orleans 20 and again Denvers McManus converted, this time from 37 yards for a 23-17 lead.Brees could be seen rushing to Thomas side to see if the receiver was OK after Cricks crushing tackle. Brees also sounds intent on not allowing Thomas to dwell on his uncharacteristically poor performance. Were going to need him to make some plays down the stretch and we will, Brees said. Those guys that care so much, thats the reason why you tell them hey, just let it go.
