COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland coach Mark Turgeon has received a four-year extension on his contract, which now runs through the 2022-23 season.Turgeon enters his sixth season at the school with a 114-59 record. The Terrapins have reached the NCAA Tournament in each of the past two years, including a berth in the Sweet 16 last season.Turgeon was Big Ten coach of the year in 2014-15 after leading Maryland to a school-record 26 regular-season wins.Athletic director Kevin Anderson says: Mark has built a program that we are incredibly proud of as he continues to lead the great tradition that is Maryland basketball.The school announced Turgeons extension Thursday.The 51-year-old took over for Gary Williams, the winningest coach in school history.Turgeon is now focused on building a legacy of his own.He says: I am extremely grateful to be the coach of this outstanding program. ...
