TULSA, Okla. - Ole Miss soccer got back in the win column in a big way Sunday night, closing out its non-conference slate with a 2-1 road win over Tulsa at Hurricane Stadium. The Rebels (5-5) fought back from a halftime deficit overcoming a 1-0 Tulsa lead to score two unanswered early on in the second period. It marked the first time this season Ole Miss would come back from being down at half.Tulsa (4-5-1), a program that won 13 games a year ago, took an early lead at the 9:53 mark in the first half (Reagan Whitlow goal) that would last for the remainder of the opening period. The Rebels finished the half with six shots for four on goal, while Tulsa had just the one shot on target at intermission. While Ole Miss didnt score in the opening 45 minutes, it sure put the pressure on including two shots off the foot of CeCe Kizer. The sophomore powered one from 15 yards out but high in the 31st minute, and went on to breakaway from a Tulsa defender and put herself in a 1-v-1 situation three minutes later with another shot on goal.Mackenze Parma, who entered as a sub late in the half, posted one of the better shots of the night as her attempt drifted just wide left in the 36th.After the break, the Rebels didnt waste much time cranking up the offense in the 50th minute for their first score of the night. At the 50:08 mark, Gabby Little crossed into the box to Addie Forbus, who then headed it to Gretchen Harknett. From there, Harknett punched in the equalizer from 12 yards out, her third score of the season and 13th of her career, tying the contest at 1-1.Exactly 10 minutes later, Forbus got possession, dribbled down field, beat two defenders and fired off a beautiful shot from 15 yards out that carried into the far left corner. The go-ahead goal was her third game-winner of the season, her eighth goal overall and 30th of her career, which now slots her in a three-way tie for sixth all-time in career goals.Tulsa went on to post a shot on goal in the 69th, but a nice save by Ole Miss keeper Marnie Merritt kept it away. The Golden Hurricane had one last chance late in the match, but the Rebel defense held strong on a corner kick with 20 seconds to go.Ole Miss finished the contest posting 10 of its 15 shots on target, while the backline and Merritt held Tulsa to just four shots on goal and nine overall. Merritt went on to fend off three shots as shes now in sole possession of eighth-place on the all-time saves list.Kizer was active offensively with six shots total, three of which were on target, while Forbus finished strong with four shots, all of which were on goal. Bella Fiorenzo posted three shots entering as a sub, while Harknetts only one went in, and Parmas one shot was saved. The Rebels return home to the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium Thursday night for the Magnolia Cup against Mississippi State. DARLINGTON, S.C. -- Kyle Busch figured itd be easy to run his own program on the Nationwide Series after all the wins hed racked up for Joe Gibbs Racing. A year on his own and out of Victory Lane, though, taught Busch a hard lesson. Back with JGR, Busch is back to his dominant ways in Nationwide racing. He won his fifth race of the year, pushing past Joey Logano 18 laps from the end to win at Darlington Raceway on Friday night. "I thought it cant be hard to upstart an organization and beat JGR," the 28-year-old Busch said. "But obviously, thats not the case." It was Buschs 56th Nationwide win, extending his career mark, and the 112th win across Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck series. "It starts with having a really good race car," Busch said. "We unloaded really well and were fast off the truck." The same could be said of all JGR entries. Busch finished a second ahead of teammate Elliott Sadler, while Brian Vickers in third and Matt Kenseth in fifth gave Gibbs shop four of the top five spots. Its the seventh time in eight years a Gibbs racer has taken the Nationwide race at Darlington. "Our teammates were so strong," said Buschs crew chief, Adam Stevens. "Just an impressive weekend for JGR." And it may not be over. Kyle Busch qualified third for Saturday nights Southern 500 and will be going for a third weekend sweep this season following double-doubles in at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., and at Texas Motor Speedway. "All in all, this was a good night," Busch says, "and we look forward to tomorrow." Buschs victory also capped a dominant showiing by the Busch boys at the track "Too Tough To Tame.dddddddddddd." Older brother Kurt set a qualifying record to win the pole for the Southern 500 on Saturday night. The younger Busch started from the pole and was the strongest car throughout the Nationwide race. He led for 107 of the 147 laps. Kenseth, a past Nationwide winner here, led the second most laps with 27. Kenseth thought his car had enough to keep up with Busch, but he said bad positioning on the final restart shuffled him back and he didnt have enough time to recover. "I felt like we were evenly matched and it was going to be a fun race to the end," Kenseth said. Busch said his teammate, Kenseth, was waving at him on the track and made it difficult at times to pass. "So Ill remember that for tomorrow," Busch said, smiling. Logano was in front when the field restarted following the last of four caution periods while Busch was in third. Busch quickly got past second-place Austin Dillon and began reeling in his former JGR teammate in Logano. Busch swept past Logano on lap 129 and found mostly clear sailing the rest of the way. Busch is the Nationwide leader with 56 career wins. He did not win in the series while operating a car he owned. Busch won the 2008 Southern 500. The leading rookie on the Nationwide series, Kyle Larson, finished sixth while series points leader Regan Smith was seventh. Sprint Cup regular Kasey Kahne was ninth. Not everything went perfectly for Busch. NASCAR said there was an issue with the cars front nose and any penalties would be announced next week. Stevens called it an oversight that was embarrassing for JGR. ' ' '
